I propose we go back to calling New York by older names - let's call the state New Netherland and the city New Amsterdam!
Either that, or we create a new "American" language that purges all words derived from other, non English, languages... So most, if not all of our current words. I don't know, maybe we just need to purge the non "white" words? What's the current opinion on Spanish peoples, does Trump consider them "white", would banana still be ok to use?
Why they changed it, I can't say.
I guess people just liked it better that way.
