Probably a noob question, but I wonder if someone has experience with that. I am looking to buy a TV and I wonder is it makes sense to buy one with decent HDR capabilities, when my plan is to watch pirated movies from my Linux device via HDMI. Is that technically possible? Is it easy?

If it matters, I am on Fedora silverblue.

I have my Linux PC connect to TV via HDMI and AVR. I just enable HDR in settings then play my movies with MPV. Works perfectly fine.

Only a minor issue with AMD GPUs, I have enabled HDMI 2.1 FRL for my kernel to get full RGB, not sure if that’s possible on Silverblue but it should be enabled by default by Linux kernel 7.4 or something.
