201

This year has seen the resolution of major suits against tech giants Alphabet and Meta, both of which were found liable for serious lawbreaking. Yet the penalties imposed on the corporations are laughably inadequate to restrain their power.

When the government first filed major antitrust lawsuits targeting Big Tech back in 2020, many people were optimistic that the long-standing practice of public legal action against monopolistic companies could rein in these economy-dominating corporations.

But as these pages have covered, this “techlash” has come to little. Antitrust law has conformed to its castrated character of recent decades, with the state unable to bring itself to seriously restrain, let alone break up, the giant companies even after they were ruled to be full monopolies just months before.

Recently, when it comes to enforcing the law against the tech giants, new lows have been reached.

It'll come to that at some point in America, but no time soon. Too many people too politically disconnected and just living their lives, but as our ills get worse and worse, and we're ignored more and more, violence will erupt. But until we hit the point where we literally cannot get food, even with money, we'll sit on our hands and suck it up.

OTOH, look how happy people were with Luigi. Think on that a minute. If we knew nothing else, we saw a video of a young man ambush and execute another man. Given the context, we cheered. (I'm still cheering BTW and had hoped for copycats.)

Who cares. Mods removing my comment any way, they suck the balls of the rull Ing class.

You think this place is bad?! Bluesky kicked me, again, for merely saying I'd shoot any armed, masked kidnappers trying to take my brown, immigrant wife. Apparently that's "inciting violence". Meanwhile, anyone is free to post right-wing quotes that directly incite violence. That's just "reporting".

(BS is anything but right-wing, but it is corporate owned, a far cry from lemmy.)
