I can't wait to buy a video accelerator and hard disks for cheap again. So I can't wait for the AI bubble to pop. The only problems is that the whole economy will tank at the same time...
As someone with plans to work in the software dev sector, it's just bad news no matter what. AI turns out to be magic, no jobs. Industry crashes because of the bubble, no jobs.
Have you considered plumbing?
I doubt there will be plentiful fresh water either, in the former situation.
As someone who is unfortunately already stuck in the IT trap, I promise you AI isn't as magical as the hype makes it out to be. It's probably also not as bad as its worst dissenters think it is, but expectations of its capability are definitely light-years beyond its actual usefulness. The former scenario is fortunately very unlikely.
Complete industrial collapse? Well, that's unfortunately a much more realistic concern. Not a guarantee mind you, but not out of the realm of possibility. People will still need to poop though, and AI are terrible at conventional engineering and won't be piloting drones to fix pipes for a long, long time.
End of natural financing availability seems certain to collapse the sector, and a more cannibalistic attitude in finance can reset the industry into more concentrated ownership, while also eliminating rational financing appetite. Aggression by META and SPCX should cutoff hyperscaler circular financing that would assist their ambitions to surpass them, or diminish their other circular investments.
Still, a global zionist supremacist establishment needs to preserve itself with robocops. $30b from UAE, and feeding Musk's electoral spending is "bailout mentality" that most of congress will still want to protect. US military buying Spacex/Meta compute rental is the simplest bailout mechanic. So, rampocalypse hell will continue until morale improves, will have full establishment backing.
