If it makes you feel any better, the reason for this is that you can’t evolve out of your clade, and modern birds evolved from therapod dinosaurs.
For the same reason you can’t evolve out of your clade, humans are apes, we’re old world monkeys, and we’re also still fish.
As long as we’re still fish, I’m okay with it.
