"We did it, Patrick! We made a technological breakthrough!"
A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype. Proud supporter of working people. And proud booer of SXSW 2024.
AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.
Rules:
- Relevant posts only.
- No bigotry.
- This isn't a place to talk about the cons and (supposed) pros of AI for different use cases. This is /c/fuck_ai .
- Especially no AI advocacy.
- Don't make any posts that are just AI content with no context unless the point of your post is obvious from content. (Don't just post slop advertisements or slop political cartoons. At least make your point about it clear so we know you aren't just trolling.)
- Venting is part of the purpose of this community, but don't aim frustration or accusations at other users.
- These rules are a living document that may change in the future.

There is no tough road, we just dont want it.
AI is like duping / hacking in items in a video game. Its just not the same as earning it yourself. When we watch a video that is clearly AI we know its an amalgamation of stolen material from real humans who you could have just hired.
I was learning about that math problem AI "solved" recently (the one about fluid dynamics). It was so on brand for AI to swoop in at the end and solve the problem on the backs of every piece of research that came before it and then claim the win as if it earned its spot at the proverbial podium.
They didn’t even swoop in at the last minute and solve shit
They literally stole the work and the answer from a real mathematician who had completed the equation but not yet published.
Lmao even better. Somehow more fitting than what I initially thought happened.
I'd be furious.
Thank you! What a shit headline, casting AI "filmmaking" as some sort of fucking plucky upstart.
How did it cost $1.5 million dollars to input a prompt and then, when it doesn't generate what you want, retyping that prompt with a "what I meant wuz"?
Seems like the Infinite Monkey Theorem, since it can try an infinite amount of times trying to create something a human would.
Because they have to pay for their AI in China.
People get executed for fraud and embezzlement in China (which, to be clear, is good).
Every time it tries it costs money.
