Andy Yen, the CEO of Proton, had a message for an employee in the company’s security Slack channel who urged the company to at least take a few days to pentest newly written code before pushing it live. “That’s bullshit and loser thinking. Of course it’s possible to be fast and secure,” Yen wrote in the channel at the end of August. “Stop thinking always of how to be slower, and focus more on how to be faster.”

In a follow-up message, Yen reiterated his point: “only losers think like that.” His ultimate message for the team was to “stop lovingly handcrafting all our code and use AI more.”

The proton LLM Lumo is one of the absolute best ones out there in terms of gathering info from the web. You can ask it to find sentences in videos or podcasts which you vaguely remember and it will do so, scraping transcripts and more. Meanwhile all other major LLM's either refuse to do this or fail to do so and say the thing you ask for doesn't exist. It's not monetized so I'm not sure what they're doing for it, but it certainly has its uses when looking for politics or news related stuff.

Okay, I was not aware of that, thanks for letting me know about it. I'm using Lumo semi-regularly and it's often giving me false or outdated information (even when it's doing searches online). But I think my issues with Lumo might be because I'm often doing prompts and searches in Finnish, and Lumo seems to struggle with it (it's Finnish output has horrible typos and grammatical errors). Maybe the English version performs better overall?

The LLM they use is definitely worse than the state of the art ones in virtually all tasks, but it does perform some tasks the others won't do so I still like it.
