Michigan Democratic Party chair Curtis Hertel made it crystal clear on Sunday that Rep. Haley Stevens (D-MI) was no longer welcome in the state's Democratic party.

Hertel posted to X after Stevens yanked her support from Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed (D) and gave it to his Republican challenger, "Congresswoman Stevens is not a current member of the Michigan Democratic Party, nor will she be in the future."

Wait, what happened with Hasan Piker?

[-] sigmaklimgrindset@sopuli.xyz 21 points 2 days ago

Stevens specifically name checks him in her video saying she's endorsing Mike Rodgers. It's actually insane that the Republicans biggest op is a fucking Twitch streamer and his dog.

If you're from an evangelical christian, Republican background... no it isn't.

These are the same people that declared that Pokemon and Harry Potter were demonic/satanic.

These are the same people who fund anti science, creationist 'think tanks', that are literally all frauds.

These are the same people that see tolerance of holidays other than their own as a literal war against them, that see entirely mundane, broad demographic ethnic shifts as a specifically concocted and executed conspiracy against specifically them.

These are the same people that believe that a hysterical hateful screaming preacher or one in a self induced babbling trance is literally in direct contact with god.

These are the same people who voted for their entire agricultural workforce to be deported and were then legitimately shocked and confused when they thing they wanted to happen, happened.

These are the same people who claim to understand how a moral and just society should operate, and then consistently rape children and abuse their wives and indulge in the sexual acts and fetishes that they deem to be sin... and then even after this, deny and downplay those things while simultaneously projecting all their own surreptitious behaviors onto some other person or group.

... they thrive on cognitive dissonance and projecting all their fears and hatreds onto a specific person or group, and then orienting their entire worldview as a battle against the thing that, to them, symbolizes everything bad.

They are hateful, delusional, dangerous members of a corrupt death cult, who are often literally deliberately trying to bring about their idea of the apocalypse.

Inventing and then defining sacrificial scape goats, and then waging war against them, is the core of what they do, how they exist in the world.

Perverse, insane, projection of delusional hatred and cruelty is their way of life.

"For no good tree bears bad fruit, nor again does a bad tree bear good fruit, for each tree is known by its own fruit. For figs are not gathered from thornbushes, nor are grapes picked from a bramble bush. The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks."

Excellent comment. I've known a few that are not like this, who genuinely believe and try to live up to the words in red, but your comment is a precise and accurate description of just so many now. If anything, an understatement.

But I would add that I'm sorry you are personally familiar enough with it to be able to describe it this well.

[-] sp3ctr4l@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

It is true that non insane Christians exist, and genuienly try to be good and do good, though others may criticize the exact specifics of that 'good'.

I've met a good deal of them, who genuienly are not animated by hate, but instead by love, who truly try to be beacons of stability and assistance for either their community or those in their personal lives.

... but there are so, so many who are driven by hate... the US political system is rigged to overrepresent them, and the results are sickening.

But yeah, I'm from 'AM Talk Radio' country, if that makes sense. Filled with ignorant manipulative and jealous people that love to justify their insecurity driven cruelty with god.

Its disgusting.

I am I guess lucky that I was curious and clever enough to start down the path of deprogramming myself, but the whole process took over a decade, and very nearly killed me.

Do not let these kinds of theofascist scumbags ever bully or gaslight you, as a person, or as a society.

Democratic voters are motivated to vote by their dislike of Republican candidates. For some fucking reason, Republican voters seem motivated to vote by their dislike of Democrat/liberal/leftist online personalities who aren’t candidates.

GOP tossing his thirst traps on the jumbotron at their convention tell you everything you needs to know about why they are obsessed with him:

https://aftermath.site/rnc-hasan-piker-meat-pic-thirst-trap/

The image was shown during the portion of the sizzle reel depicting the dangers of socialism, after footage of Alexandria Ocasio Cortez and images of people waving communist flags. The intended message is clear: Hasan Piker is a dangerous, communist threat. But I am not really sure that depicting your enemy as extremely fuckable is a wise strategy.

[-] sigmaklimgrindset@sopuli.xyz 3 points 2 days ago

Oh god, the RNC Meat Pic incident, don't remind me 💀

[-] friend_of_satan@lemmy.world 18 points 2 days ago

What? I'm just asking what happened. I haven't said anything about what I think about him. But if somebody disavowed him quickly, but not too quickly, it makes it seem like he did something to change somebody's mind.

[-] QueenHawlSera@piefed.social 8 points 2 days ago

The Democrats hate Hasan Piker because he's on the left

[-] grue@lemmy.world 14 points 2 days ago

No, the "Democrats" like Haley Stevens do.

[-] QueenHawlSera@piefed.social 3 points 2 days ago

Democrats need to ask, do they want to play nice with Republicans? Or do they wanna win elections?

[-] alcoholicorn@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 days ago

The answer for my entire lifetime was "play nice with republicans". It'd be cool if that changed though.

[-] QueenHawlSera@piefed.social 4 points 2 days ago

Yeah, that's unfortunately kinda been the winning one my entire life.

And I don't get it, Republicans NEVER play ball. There is no amount of compromise you can do that will make a Republican move a centimeter to the left.

The Affordable Care Act twisted itself into pretzels trying to appease the Right and in the end passed without a single Republican vote

[-] alcoholicorn@lemmy.ml 3 points 2 days ago

Ultimately triangulation just allows the dems to justify to their voters why they aren't doing what the voters want, and instead doing what their donors want. Its always been electorally dumb, hence why you never see republicans use it.

I don't believe it is a conspiracy so much as a system where politicians who bring in more money have more influence and are surrounded by staffers who get filtered by income and ideology.

[-] QueenHawlSera@piefed.social 2 points 1 day ago

The second there's a Democratic majority (Though I doubt we will ever see that again the Overton Window shifted too far to the rightt)

I better see talks about Medicare for all

[-] alcoholicorn@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 day ago

M4A is the compromise. The best system is what Cuba is what Cuba built, failing that what Britain had before the Tories got to it.

They have more doctors per capita than any other country, a longer life expectancy than America, more accessable healthcare (even rural areas get clinics, doctors are required to do x years in rural communities in exchange for free medical school) and regularly develop effective vaccines for types of cancer and recently, a treatment for alzheimers.

They do this while under a blockade from a superpower right nextdoor. Imagine what a country with first-world resources could do.

[-] QueenHawlSera@piefed.social 1 points 1 day ago

They do not have vaccines for cancer, come on now.

[-] alcoholicorn@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

They have developed vaccines for some types of lung cancer and other cancers IIRC.

[-] abc@suppo.fi 0 points 1 day ago

Hasan Piker has always been a colossal asshole. Nothing new happened there.
