They are very aware of the meme and will never release a third game as "3".
Team Fortress 3 will probably just be called "forever" or have some other tagline to avoid being called 3.
It's a nod to the time it'll take to release
7th if you count CS online 1&2 (9th if you also include CS Neo and Nexon: Zombies/Studio but that's pushing it even for me)
And I thought I was pushing it by including Condition Zero
Maybe Valve should zero-index their series. That's the big brain solution.
