Everyone is focusing on the pizza, but how on earth is that a medium drink?

[–] Evotech@lemmy.world 18 points 1 year ago

[–] OrteilGenou@lemmy.world 15 points 1 year ago (1 children)

[–] Klear@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 year ago

And what sort of monster drinks pop in the morning?

Earliest I can bring myself to drink pop is like, 11:30 maybe

It's more of an afternoon type drink, no?

I drink energy drinks (basically soda) instead of coffee because coffee gives me super severe stomach cramps, and I still want caffeine in the morning.

[–] Sanyanov@lemmy.world 0 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Drink green tea, it has more caffeine than coffee.

Energy drinks are not basically soda, they contain, well, a ton of taurine and, well, caffeine, and are even more terrible (in fact, order of magnitude so) for your health, especially cardiovascular system.

[–] SuperCub@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 year ago (2 children)

That's incorrect. Coffee has more caffeine than green tea.

Green tea: 30–50 mg

Instant coffee: 27–173 mg

Plain, brewed coffee: 102–200 mg

Espresso: 240–720 mg

Black tea: 25–110 mg

Yerba mate: 65–130 mg

Soft drinks: 23–37 mg

Energy drinks: 72–80 mg

Info appears to be varying wildly, but I acknowledge your point, thanks.

Still, tea can be used as an alternative source of caffeine, and it would certainly be better for your health than going all energy drinks.

[–] halva@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 1 year ago

yerba mate is actually a decent replacement for coffee with the slight problem of it being more bitter than pure caffeine

[–] glitch1985@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

I don't drink coffee so soda is how my body gets it's daily intake of caffeine.

[–] tjarod11@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Being raised Mormon like this gave me bad teeth.

[–] Goldmage263@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 year ago

Morning coffee gives me brown teeth. I can't do all that sugar at the start if the day with pops though.

In some parts of the US is fairly common.

Dr. Pepper instead of coffee in the morning is a thing in Texas.

Like, not everyone does it, but no one bats an eye at it either.

What the fuck.
