You can collapse comments, itβs the little plus or minus icon next to usernames.
Apps are in an early state, but they exist. I can only speak to the Android side of things, but we have Jerboa and it works pretty well so far. And iOS has Mlem, which sounds like it's in a similar situation.
Jerboa for Android is ok. But I get an odd error sometimes when trying to post - "language-not-allowed" - and I lose the comment text. I got into the habit of copying my text before posting.
It happened just now, and I had to go to the website to post this. I don't have a language option on Jerboa, but do on the website.

You are using kbin, not lemmy. In Lemmy, the comment box is at the top.
If you have an Android phone you can download Jerboa.
In Jerboa you can comment directly on the OP, collapse comments with a long press on the username row.
