I wanted to get a pulse check on how new members are finding the general experience/website. Is it more confusing than Reddit or are you finding the instance system a better way of doing things as it can give you more freedom of where you choose to create an account?

I'm a new user myself but have found the experience to remind me of Reddit back in the day, lol. It's definitely giving me old-school yet modern vibes and it's great to see something that isn't Reddit growing in popularity!

  • I have to scroll all the way down to comment
  • I can't collapse comments
  • I need an app :/

You can collapse comments, it’s the little plus or minus icon next to usernames.

Apps are in an early state, but they exist. I can only speak to the Android side of things, but we have Jerboa and it works pretty well so far. And iOS has Mlem, which sounds like it's in a similar situation.

Jerboa for Android is ok. But I get an odd error sometimes when trying to post - "language-not-allowed" - and I lose the comment text. I got into the habit of copying my text before posting.

It happened just now, and I had to go to the website to post this. I don't have a language option on Jerboa, but do on the website.

Edit: changed supported to allowed

You are using kbin, not lemmy. In Lemmy, the comment box is at the top.

If you have an Android phone you can download Jerboa.

In Jerboa you can comment directly on the OP, collapse comments with a long press on the username row.

Try it!
