Unpopular opinion: promoting scumbags, even as part of memes, actually makes them more accepted in society which proliferates the issue of terrible bosses because it seems like a viable role model.

If you can't behave like a normal human being, then please find therapist and don't make everyone's day worse. Anger control works and does wonders for everyone involved.

He plays it up for the show. He's not actually like that.

Watch any of his non "hell's kitchen/nightmares" shows and he's quite sensible.

And even in kitchen nightmares, he goes to really big lengths to actually help these people get back on track. Sometimes, they don't realize how bad things are or get stubborn and need a kick in the pants to change.

You have to watch the UK versions to see him act like a normal person.

His travel thing was quite chill too. It was him going to different parts of the world, getting shown local delicacies and sourcing local produce, and having a cook-off with a local chef for local groups. It's mostly him chatting with fishermen, hunters, farmers, mushroom gatherers etc and it's quite charming.

Have you watched the British version Kitchen Nightmares? Ramsay is very pleasant and patient in it.

Part of it is the US version really plays up his reputation by using editing techniques to drum up the drama for viewership, part of it is that if you watch the show occasionally, some of the restaurants he tries to save in the US are genuinely disgusting and should have been shut down as health hazards.

I was rewatching some of the earlier seasons and it's extra obvious he also intentionally pokes at them to get them to lash out before having the heart to heart moment to help them. It's fun/sad watching the episodes and then checking that one website to see what ended up happening with the restaurant.

I see, will try to check on UK versions!

Thank you and everyone else who replied for contextual info.

Nah, dude is actually very nasty in his early day, taking from his master's nastiness. Marco Pierre White once verbally abused Gordon so much to make him cry, but once both person grow old the nastiness slowly leave them, so the Gordon and Marco of now is actually a bit more pleasant, yet the legacy they and a lot of other chefs left for the industry is an abusive one.

It's only Ramsey's American shows that are like this. Says more about America than it does Ramsay. He's not a scumbag.

I guarantee you the producers of the US version deliberately make it an anger fest. They think Americans want to see it

And ratings prove them right.

Sadly yes but they don't give us an option though.
