Planned downtime (self.support)

Hi again, as previously mentioned, I hope to attempt to migrate to a new server tomorrow morning.

This will involve downtime, however, remember Lemmy has many nodes. You can jump over to beehaw.org or lemmy.ml or one of the many other instances to lurk and check out some of their content. You can read posts but your lemmy.nz account won't work until we are up again. And you (probably) can't read lemmy.nz posts.

Feel free to also hop onto the Matrix chat room here: https://matrix.to/#/#lemmynz:matrix.org

I'll also put the chat in the side bar. This gives us another avenue of communication, and a chance to have a(n even) less formal chat. Of course course you'll want to grab this link before we go offline (sorry it's late posting it and likely to be early downtime - depending on when I wake up).

For those of you up early, we're now on the new server :)

No one is more surprised than I am! I think it was less than 12 minutes of down time :)

You must be a real life sysadmin with those skills!

Haha I'm not! But Lemmy uses docker which makes it pretty straightforward. I restored a backup to the server ahead of time, then all I had to do was take the old server offline, copy the database over again, then switch the domain over to the new server. Easy!
