New sync for Lemmy user here. What's different for a community that I subscribe to, than any other community? I mean .. For me to subscribe in the first place, they mostly have to show in my feed to begin with.

You have several feeds to browse Lemmy with.

All shows everything federated to your home instance
Local shows communities hosted on your home instance
Home shows everything you are subscribed to

So subscribing to a community puts it in your Home feed which is a self curated list of communities that you’re interested in.
