Gonna see if I can't get mine fixed first. If not I'll have to bite the >$1k bullet.
The framework 13 is shipping today, you can buy the base configuration for 850 USD and then upgrade later. just a option
It's literally not usable in the $850 config
Also apart from the expansion cards, the ram and SSD are quite cheaper to get elsewhere, especially if you can reuse your old laptop's. So it's still possible to get a sub 1k config.
My old laptop is DDR4. I Guess I can reuse the SSD so that'll save me $50...
