Have to remember too that at first, reddit was a little confusing and frictional, a new forum system, took a bit to get used to. That's what bought it the time it needed to really solidify it's own identity and culture.

After a while, and a few migrations, as more and more people flood in, eventually the influx is too fast for the new people to be able to pick up on the culture. It's like Exponentially Eternal September.

It'll happen here too eventually, but fortunately the platforms structure makes it much easier to splinter using native features.
