Alright, Square Enix are probably doing something besides those two FF16 DLCs, since there's a Final Fantasy weekend sale, AND I've gotten 11 recommendations on Steam to do with Final Fantasy.
Also this, are they... remaking IX?
@finalfantasy @finalfantasy_community mentioning yous cause of this.

@Vincent392 There was a leak from Nvidias GeForce Now software that indicated a remake around 3 year ago (if I’m remember my dates correctly) about a year later Jeff Grubb seem to confirm it and then there’s been steady speculation and rumour since. No solid news though.

Discounts/sales are likely unrelated and probably more to do with capitalising on the release of VII Rebirth to gain some interest.

You’re also probably seeing some targeted marketing at work as well.

@helloharu @finalfantasy I've been taking, every. Single. Detail, into account.

  1. The references to it in Final Fantasy XVI
  2. Square Enix seemingly putting Final Fantasy IX into a high priority position.
  3. This sale, that includes Zidane on the art of it.
  4. The leak
  5. Final Fantasy IX getting a surge in popularity.

It all ties in for me.

@Vincent392 @finalfantasy I think you may be looking too deep and making connections that aren’t there. XVI for example has references to almost every other mainline game, with some other having more than IX. Final Fantasy games always cross-reference each other, so it’s not an abnormal thing to see.
