I don't really use AirBnB anymore, but the last few times I did I had to run around the rental and flip all the cameras down. Who knows how many I missed. Really creepy shit.

i've had more good experiences with AirBnB/VRBO, than bad, but yeah, i'm pretty sick of rolling the dice on it, or wondering if there's a fucking camera in the bathroom.

turns out the hotel experience is reliable because of, let me see here, rules and regulations set over a significant period of time by a governing body in order to protect people from harmful/exploitative practices.

I rented one during Covid for a little family trip. We were going nuts and wanted to take a trip to the beach. Found a little house, seemed decent, was cheap. They had a few cameras and I turned them all down, immediately got a message about fixing it. I messaged back that they cannot record my children. Went silent.

Twice we woke up with the heat turned on and thermostat (was a Nest) turned up to the max temp. These shitty people turned up the temp in the middle of the night to spite us because I wouldn’t let them watch my children change clothes to go to the beach.
