We'll see if Easy Anti Cheat's statement is true in due time...

What I can say is clearly Easy Anti Cheat doesn't stop other people cheating for someone.

Employees at Respawn started to be notified of layoffs at the end of last week, with the Apex Legends team in particular being affected. The layoffs are part of the 670 job cuts EA announced in February by boss Andrew Wilson.

At least a few of these people are the ones who would be able to find and properly fix the vulnerabilities within Apex Legends.

I can almost guarantee you that somebody at EA said "We've havent been hacked, why are we spending so much on security?"
