I tried explaining this to my father once. His reasoning was that white people won so it's our land now.

He also liked to call himself a native American because he was born in America.

Oh yeah, I hear this all the time where I live in South Dakota. The other one is that "it's been so long," ignoring that there's still an ongoing genocide against Native Americans.

Then there are the real galaxy brains that will tell you "everything is stolen, so that makes it OK." I just ... can't even with these people.
