Elden ring. It looks like an amazing game but it just doesn't work for me. I feel like it's the combat? Somehow it feels "clunky" for me. It's odd I can't put my finger on it, but I don't like the movement which obviously affects combat.
I was also gonna say Elden Ring, have you played other souls games?. The combat in elden ring felt pretty decent compared to other souls games, very fast paced and actually alot smoother than any other because of the jumping mechanics. I love the dark souls games but elden ring killed itself for me with its open world, just didn't feel fun exploring, and the only places that i enjoyed going through were the few legacy dungeons that were designed like the older games. Oh and i forgot the quests, screw elden rings questlines tbh they suck, too cryptic in an open world with no guidance
Repeated bosses, useless gathering and crafting skills, the regular dungeons had the same 4 designs and were too short to be fun and too repetitive in design. Alot of people really like this game and i dont get it.
Elden Ring is my favorite game of all time but I can totally agree that if the combat doesn’t vibe with you it doesn’t have a ton else going for it!
I like elden rings combat, just that i like the more intricate game world design of the older souls games, where you feel like you are exploring a real place that was lived in for decades before you arrived.
I so agree with you on that. I didn't put up with Eldin Ring for long, but right out the gate the world felt very fake to me, like it just exists to be a place where enemies to fight are, rather than being anything like a real space. Ditto for the enemies mostly not doing anything but existing and waiting for you to come fight them. Every other open world game ever blows it out of the water in that respect.
Is my impression from what little I played, anyway. Maybe it gets better later?
I didn't even like the color palette or that hideous glowing tree, either. Garish, but not even fun garish, just blargh.
/p.s. thank you beehaw admins for disabling the downvote button, and for everyone actually talking to each other instead of yelling "How dare you not like the thing I like, stupid-head??!!", and thus making everybody in this thread feel safe to share their unpopular opinions.
