Either my upstairs or downstairs neighbour is working from home today and has their Outlook notifications on loud. And I have a goddamn Pavlovian anxiety reaction every time the "new email" sound comes through. Even though I've turned mine off for years so I know it's not an email for me. This is very exhausting.

For me, it’s that Teams call ring tone ! I think I have PTSD from my previous job where ppl would non stop calling on Teams …..

[–] just_kitten@aussie.zone 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I get that from one of the default iPhone ring tones... Now everything is permanently on silent

All my phones are permanently on silent. I used to get people calling me on teams while I was in a meeting and keeps calling till I msg them I’m busy 🤯

My current job has a few meeting free days! And they are the best !

Ah, consulting life... in a way I'm lucky our line of work is so minor across so many projects that we don't have many meetings. And our clients don't usually keep calling again and again in the span of minutes D: they leave a voicemail.

This is why we don't let external uses contact us on Teams unless we set up a meeting with them, they should never be able to see our online/offline status

Surprise surprise it was a state gov job!

[–] just_kitten@aussie.zone 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

BITTER TEARS OF RECOGNITION because that's even worse in some regards

I'm just trying to wrangle our consulting on two separate state gov projects and they are the most irritating and demanding with the largest volume of communication (that doesn't get read lol).

It is worse in a lot of way haha. But I would never go back to consulting! Depends on which gov department and who from the department you deal with, your experience could be very different!

Btw I remember you were waiting for your PR? Any updates on that ?

[–] just_kitten@aussie.zone 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yes!!! I mentioned it on the old DT before the blackout but I got my PR just over a month ago 😄 now I can decide where to go next! I'm thinking I might try a stint in local government

Omg congrats !!

Try it! If you don’t like it, can always go back to consulting !
