I cannot express how much it pleases me that a lot of the girls in Overlord have actual alternate outfits in the form of substantial battle-gear.

I didn't know! I'll have to add it to my watch list. I skipped it because it seemed too wish-fulfillment fantasy for me. Some of that is fine, but there's got to be more than that. If there's good armor, I'm on board.

Oh yeah, the girls in Overlord get geared the fuck up when it's time to get serious in a fight. This is Albedo's full plate, which she dons in one of the first episodes in order to act as bodyguard for Ainz when he exits Nazarick in the new world for the first time. Like other floor guardians she spends most of the time in lighter clothing, but she wears her armor several more times over the series, whenever combat is to be expected.

Narberal, one of the battle-maids in her maid outfit vs battle-gear.

Shalltear's normal attire vs her battle-mode.

And my friend, Overlord is GOATED. The intrigue doesn't come from the fact that the MC is OP, rather, it's an isekai where along with the MC his entire chaotic-evil RP guild and its guild-hall, and all its NPCs have come with him into a new world. In the new world, the NPCs have gained self awareness, except to them the game-world was the real world and all they know is their role-play villainy, which to them is very real. As the guild master MC ends up in command of an unstoppable force of villains, that serve him unquestionably, but which might turn against him in a second if they figure out he isn't as evil as they think he is.

The second season adapts the low point of the story, the lizard-man arc, but it's all uphill from there. The series is a mix of political intrigue and comedy, stemming from how Ainz accidentally takes over the world, and how his underlings move to realize the thousand-year-plan they all imagine he has in mind:
