I joined like a year or so ago when I first heard about Lemmy. I haven't been too active but the nice UI and pretty interesting posts keep me coming back.

You're automatically made a mod. I think you can set other people to be mods. But I don't know exactly what happens if you don't moderate it closely. Maybe the admins just appoint another mod.
