how to enable vertical tabs in nightly? (lemmy.blahaj.zone)

are vertical tabs and the sidebar updates an a/b test?

i can't seem to find out how to enable them and everything i've read show options that don't exist in my install - i've also tried a fresh profile.

I'm not the person you asked, but one big standout feature for me is tab groups. It's a little tedious compared to the Google Chrome implementation, but it works.
