It’s not the shopping, it’s not the cooking. It’s thinking what to cook and cleanup that tires me. I know someone that eats the same meal on each night, eg pasta Monday, taco Tuesday etc. Planning is easier sure but I think the boredom would kill me. And the endless life chore of dishes is soul sucking.

this is why I got a giant freezer. When struck I make ALL THE THINGS

when meh, I pull a lasagne or bolognaise or curry or dumplings or whatever out of freezer and cooketh.

Dishes are worse than scrubbing the loo! I despise it. Never ending cycle of ick.

I don't like it but I don't hate it, I don't think about it, just do it. Which I suppose is a way of coping with doing doing something tedious and ick.

I get this. I feel like I just washed up and then… Where did all these dishes come from?

[–] TinyBreak@aussie.zone 6 points 4 months ago

I keep a google sheets list of things I know how to cook. then fill in the blanks with youtube shorts that look interesting enough to tackle.

Go to Aldi and look in the freezer dept. There's a shit load of stuff in there to give you ideas. Pair freezer stuff to fresh stuff.

there have been studies!!

It's not boring to eat the same food.

It helps reduce stress as there is one less choice to make a day and people learn to enjoy a reduced menu.

Can confirm. I was the subject of a focussed study where I cooked and ate green chicken curry every night for 12 months. I loved it. Still love it. Probably couldn't do it again though on account of family members I've picked up since then saying things like I don't like it, it's boring, we had it last night etc....sigh

Whoa, 365 nights of the same meal?? I love green curry chicken, but that sounds horrific! I think I’d be an exceptionally bad candidate for those studies. I need variety.

Some nights I added water chestnuts.

[–] Catfish@aussie.zone 2 points 4 months ago

What? I love a green curry but not that often!

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 points 4 months ago

it's green curry, what's not to love

Do the dishes bit by bit. Rinse and stack, then wash a few when you make a coffee. Makes it less of task for me at least.
