I opened the newspaper one day, and The Far Side on the left is what I saw. The version I submitted, however, is on the right. As you can see, there's a subtle difference

Normally, when a syndicate editor feels compelled to alter a caption, he or she contacts the cartoonist and the changes are discussed. No one contacted me about this one, however, and I cringed when I read the new, wimpy caption. In cases like this, I prefer cartoons be rejected altogether rather than "softened" in their impact

My editor only did this a few times, and, when the cartoon came up for inclusion in a book, I had the original caption reinstated

I hate the cartoon cliché of someone (or, in my case, some animal) on a psychiatrist's couch. I'll do them, obviously, but for some reason this situation always points out the lunacy of mixing animal and human behavior. If the psychiatrist was also a dog, I'd be more comfortable with it. But the approach I've used here makes me want to say, "Wait a minute―dogs don't visit psychiatrists! How'd he even find the right floor?" Before long, I start analyzing the improbabilities in everything I've drawn and I might end up having to lie down on the couch for a while.

Recently some malicious users started to use an exploit where they would post rule violating content and then delete the account. This would prevent admins and mods from viewing the user profile to find other posts, and would also prevent federation of ban actions.

The new release fixes these problems. Thanks to @flamingos-cant for contributing to solve this.

Not really sure how that works with federation. You're not "using" lemmy.world, you're using lemm.ee, which has a copy of content from lemmy.world.

I don't think mutual aid can work well like that on the internet. Works great in person, works OK for GoFundMe-type stuff like "I had something happen to me that will take a lot of money to fix". Too easy to scam and grift for small stuff like this though, where for all you know they're just a very clever dog on the internet.

Guy might have worms or parasites. There were some studies that showed a weak correlation between ivermectin and better COVID-19 outcomes, but it turns out that only studies from third world countries showed even that weak effect, and yeah if you get rid of other problems like parasites, the body can fight off COVID-19 better.
