That def happens but there's legit farms here too. Plus there's ways to recognize some products. What appears to be happening (here) more than grocery store repacking is either reselling Ontario Food Terminal product or padding one's own product with food terminal items. Buying food terminal resale is equivalent to buying from alt grocery store. I'm not pitching a farmers' market as some form of panacea for our food system's deep problems. It's a social place to visit, talk to someone, and maybe find a treat that you like more than what's in the No Frills. In case that sounds appealing.

It would be pretty great if we had real food markets where one didn't need detective skills to spot grocery store repacks, but among many other hurdles, detective skills are a necessary component for market function. That's markets. Some say they're the most efficient way to distribute commodities. I'm not so sure. 😄

In case you missed it, there's a farmer's market running all summer (May-Oct) at the Small Arms Inspection Building at Dixie & Lakeshore. That's next to Mary Curtis Park and the border with Etobicoke.

Lots of produce, eggs, honey, meat, you name it.

Hey folks, given the shit show with Discord, another community I'm part of on Discord is wondering whether to move to Matrix. Was wondering if there's an unadvertised Matrix server that someone at Fedecan is already hosting?

The colour is real. There's a funky overhead light. 😄

Not sure if the recertified market would be as affected but prices are definitely going up.

This is the reason a #Shimano XT #derailleur costs more than a Shimano Alivio. On the left you have the whole-body slop of an Alivio M3100 derailleur. On the right you have the same of an XT M8000. There's noticeable slack in all the pivot joints of the M3100. There's no noticeable slack in the XT. It feels like a single piece. The result of this difference is misshifts like going one gear higher then back to the desired one, or otherwise some shifts taking longer between gears.

There's a second video in the original post showing the XT derailleur.

So I have an update to my post from a couple of weeks ago. I did a few full charging sessions and they all showed estimated capacity around 4700mAh:

Then yesterday I found this curious setting, after updating to Android 16 QPR1:

I turned it off, did a full charge session and I got this estimate:

And that result looks to be right back to the normal cycle degradation line:

I'll do a few more full charge sessions but we have a tentative culprit. Google seems to have introduced a battery capacity cap under this setting, presumably to extend the cycle life of the battery.

Used brake calipers taken off my old bike. SwissStop brake pads with a lot of meat left on them. A few more pics here.

A symbolic $10 for Lemmy comrades. Free if you can't pay.

I was looking at this chart in AccuBattery and this dip looks rather strange. It does not look like normal battery wear. Did we get nerfed by the July update like the a-series with bad batteries? What's your graph look like, if you use AccuBattery or equivalent?

I haven't used my phone's USB port for anything but charging for at least over a decade so I hadn't even checked the port speed before or after buying.

It's a Framework with 11th gen Intel i5. I've never seen it below 11W while doing this. I don't recall the exact number I got in Debian 12 but I think it was in the 11-13W range. The numbers were similar with Ubuntu LTS which I used till about a year ago. Now I see 9-10W. The screen is 3:2 13". Not sure about the enconding but I have GPU decoding working in Firefox.

I suppose Albertans in oil and gas should call Danielle and tell her to stop the clown tricks and join Team Canada now.

@SteelBeard@lemmy.world , you should add a link to the announcement which explains why Beehaw defederated since this looks to be the top question many are asking.

It's already monetised. Just click on the links under Donations in the main sidebar or straight to the OpenCollective page for a glimpse. We pay for it with our money. That's how we know we're not the product.
