What did Hasan do now? I'm not in the know

You are a disgusting piece of shit. The bourgeois view of life is so ingrained in you that you even suggest to make a buck off of pure depravity.

Your answer does not follow since I did not say that compiling is what makes people knowledgeable. Gentoo isn't merely compiling. Binpkg repos exist and suffice for a lot of users.

Gentoo is unique in that it explicitly gives you maximum freedom in designing your experience, at the same time it implicitly forces you to learn since there is no straight forward process of installing the OS and designing/tweaking your setup later on. If you mess up, you can't just simply do a reinstall or go back any other way willy nilly (in most cases), you have to do the software equivalent of an open heart surgery. Going from Debian to Gentoo has a lot of friction associated with it.

Portage makes you read updates, and is very clear about issues. At every turn in Gentoo there are opportunities to learn. This comes at the expense of comfort, but it pays in other ways. You are better off understanding Gentoo as an exercise in minimalism.

Just as your initial assumption does not follow, neither does your suggestion that I'm implying users of other distros and OSes can't become knowledgeable.

Have you ever even tried Gentoo or invested time to understand it?

I am sorry, I am an outsider, I believe it needs to be said very clearly what the US has been doing. It's the most obvious thing, and for its obviousness it doesn't get talked about at all because all fundamental critique is blended into constructive criticism that's meant to improve and prolong the system instead of abolish it.

Yes, not all Israelis are "bad", but most Israelis support the expansionist projects, just like most Americans have a very screwed up sense of nationalism, even some of the leftists (who'll believe in the supposed forwadness of both the American revolution and the genocidal campaign that was manifest destiny.) I don't "hate" US Americans, I simply am frustrated with the bullshit.

The US has such an odd social structure and a dependence on cheap imports. You wouldn't be remissed to call it the landlord of the world because that is evident even in the behaviour of the slightly better off to well off US Americans who are able to travel the world.

Gentoo is one of those distros that actually gets people to learn about their compuers, and as someoneelse has said the wiki is great. tmk a few innovations from the Gentoo "ecosystem" like features of init systems make it into other distros, similar to Arch.

Stirnerite banger!!

The US was a mistake. So much about the country is hideous and vain. I genuinely instinctively trust people from Canada and Mexico more because I've had genuinely terrible interactions with US Americans on pretty regular basis. What people say about Israeli tourists holds true for Americans as well, the world has been forced to accept what the US has done to other places as morally good somehow.

This era is ending and I say to hell with the devil that is the American state

I liked OkCupid's question system, but since that place has become unusable there is no good way of meeting people online without investing considerable effort sifting through discord servers and whatnot. I had high hopes for Matrix, but Matrix turned out to have a fair share of rooms full of really mentally ill people set on evading moderation.

I'm not talking about romantic or sexual dating, that is not the aim. So far I've only met one person online who proved to be a consistent friend.

The whole conundrum is so troubling to me that I have started thinking about building a crude matching algorithm and using that for a FLOSS chatting site that doesn't have pictures, bios, searchable profiles and all that jazz. Just: 'yes'/'no' and 6 pt scale questions. Maybe also a contrast mode to discover radically different people. The biggest obstacle here would be certain legal questions (especially around liability.)

Before I start doing that I want to ask if anyone here knows of a decent site to meet people.

Example: using the invidious RSS feature for YouTube channels instead of subscribing. RSS also works with Nitter.

Future of Linux my ass. I want something that works.

That's fucking delicious. I am so not surprised that people who focus only on aesthetics (by that I mean those behind omarchy and hyprland) would fuck up the most basic things where substance has any importance. Aesthetics is for idiots! I will never want the Linux desktop to take over because of coolness, I want the software that attacks important questions to take over. These reactionaries have proven themselves to be utterly incompetent once again, and they will continue to prove their incompetence because they all lack insight and think of themselves as being god's chosen ones.

You know who needs that money? Open hardware projects, everything around LoRa, projects that promote tech literacy, programs for accessibility, the Linux Foundation itself, list goes on. What needs it the least? An ass arch install with pre-installed programs.
