By default, Inkscape doesn't come with any premade gradients build in. In this tutorial I'll be demonstrating a workaround that allows you to add dozens of premade gradient swatches to Inkscape so that you can use them every time you launch the software.

Download the swatches here: https://logosbynick.com/78-free-vector-gradient-swatches/

Basically as the title asks. It looks like the .wtf instance is down again, and I'm starting to think more seriously about hosting my own instance. I imagine I'd have to pay for the domain name, and for a server to host it, but are there any Peertube instance hosters that can confirm if there are other costs involved?

Edit: Looks like the .wtf instance is back up, so thanks to the admin for that! However I'd still take any advice I can get on setting up an instance in case it's needed

Linux market share for Desktop/Laptop PCs in North America have grown by at least four points for the last two months. Now reaching over 10%, we're seeing the dominos starting to fall and the broader culture catching up. This is proof that not only is Linux on the desktop inevitable, but that we need to keep up the good fight.

DEF CON 32 talk on a new side-channel vulnerability affecting popular AI assistants.

The researcher shows how encrypted conversations can be inferred from network traffic, even when protected by HTTPS. Before disclosure, services like OpenAI, Microsoft, Cloudflare, Quora, and Notion were potentially at risk.

The talk explains how the attack works, demonstrates real interception examples, and shows how to identify similar vulnerabilities in other AI systems.

The modern web can be distracting, invasive, and slow. Luckily, there's another way!

Using an RSS/Atom feed reader can really help cut out distractions. Doing so from the terminal can enhance the effect, keeping you informed without all of the adtech and algorithms.

Enter Newsboat! Newsboat is an open source fork of Newsbeuter, and is a wonderful terminal-based feed reader. I even fire it up on my old Wyse terminal in the video!

In this video, I explain how to install and configure Newsboat on Manjaro, Fedora, and Pop!_OS. It's packaged up for other distros too, and non-Linuxes like macOS (via Brew) and FreeBSD.

Shout-out to Christian from @The Digital Life for helping out my pronunciation! This video also has some footage of @Techno Tim and @Learn Linux TV , both of whom are great.

If you want to help support the channel, you can join the Patreon at https://patreon.com/VeronicaExplains. For $10/mo, I'll print your name on my dot matrix printer and put it in the video. Super neat! There's also a $1 and $5 tier- any little bit helps me spend more time making videos!

Lastly, the shirt is at https://vkc.sh/merch. I know you're wondering! 😃 Proceeds benefit the channel!

I'm trying to fix the stuck tape transport in a Philips N4416 reel to reel from 1972.

Philips N4416 Service Manual (English):
https://elektrotanya.com/hfe_philips_n4416_service_en.pdf/download.html

Side note: There are several versions of the service manual floating around, the German variant I found is much shorter than the English and Dutch ones, I think it is an incomplete scan.

The video is shot from a first-person perspective, showing Cynni holding a blue, plush hammerhead shark toy while playfully humming the "Jaws" theme tune. Their adorable companion, Koa, bounds into the frame. Koa is a male, chocolate brown Labrador Retriever pup, born on 25/02/2026, who features a sweet, small white strip of fur on the center of his chest. With a cheerful "One, two!", Cynni tosses the shark into a blue, shell-shaped kiddie pool filled with water.

Koa, being an eager young dog, quickly retrieves the wet toy but immediately heads for the glass back door. Cynni lovingly redirects him, explaining that they aren't going inside because Koa is completely soaked, and they are also a bit wet from refilling the pool. They gently encourage the pup to go back to the water. As Koa happily parades around the patio tiles and black tarp with his prized shark, Cynni notes with a witty chuckle that the process of refilling the pool was apparently much more fun for him than actually playing in it.

A spirited, loving game of chase ensues. "You're way too fast, Ko," Cynni laughs, momentarily slipping a curse about their bad back before quickly apologizing and correcting themselves. They patiently work with the growing Labrador on his "drop it" ("los") command, praising him warmly with a "Good boy" whenever he successfully surrenders the toy.

As Koa splashes his paws and occasionally investigates the pool water, Cynni shares their plans for the day. They mention that it's currently a pleasant 22 degrees Celsius, perfect for a short play session before the weather gets too hot. Cynni explains that Koa gets to tag along to their physical therapy appointment later, which they really need for their back before the weekend. They warmly note that their car, affectionately named "Skoosh", is equipped with the "woei-woei (their playful term for the air conditioning), ensuring they will both stay nice and cool during the trip. The lovely video ends with Koa needing his shark again, and Cynni happily obliging with another countdown and a splashy toss into the water.
