Interestingly, Argentina have recently expanded their claim to the South Sandwich Islands and the UK's theoretical claim of Antarctica. They don't have any justification for it, they simply think they can get away with it as long as they claim victimhood if they don't get it.

I got 59%, which I think is good for a first attempt! To be fair, going from Historic counties to Ceremonial counties in the 1990s did make it more difficult for people.
Can't really add anything current to this thread since I've just started watching Case Closed/Detective Conan! It's been a curiousity since I went to Japan and saw merchandise for it everywhere. See you guys in like 4 years!
Back in 2022 my brother, who's quite the authority on football tournaments, said that the team England had then was the best team England had ever had, and if we didn't win the Euros in 2022, we never will. 2022 was also the year of that laser pointer incident, so it was also an exceptionally embarrassing time to be rooting for England.
Sounds like Lemmy's already shaping up to compete with Reddit!
OK I'm kidding - I think you're kind of right, Lemmy can get that sometimes, but much like Reddit, it's only really on the bigger communities that you always see on the front page, smaller ones are pretty chill in my experience.
I guess it depends on what you're seeing hostility towards, but I will also say that with Lemmy's status as an open source social media trying to compete against the likes of Reddit and Facebook, I find that the people here are naturally more protective of it from the sort of thing you'll see on other sites. Also because of Lemmy's status, it also attracts a LOT of political discussion, which has always been the most likely thing to descend into hostile crap flinging.
Oh, I should also mention, please just block the whole entire .ml instance. I can guarantee that it will improve your Lemmy experience and your mental health. I did it in my first few days here, and I sometimes forget just how bad it was before I did block it!
I've said it before, but I really don't get the GTA VI hype. The last Grand Theft Auto game being released over a decade ago isn't any guarantee that the next one will be amazing - Duke Nukem, Metroid, Overwatch and Star Fox are examples of that. Also, anyone who's been paying attention to the direction Rockstar games has been going for the last 5+ years would be pretty worried about how this game will actually turn out. A lot of stuff that used to be earned with in-game currencies in GTA online are only buyable with real money now. Their employee track record is horrible... Hearing about Rockstar not producing discs for their game doesn't surprise me. Maybe GTA VI will "crash the industry" and all the things these YouTubers are saying, but it would be on status alone at the moment, not because we know this is going to be a great game.
Any new browser trying to compete with Chrome and Mozilla is welcome in my book!
Definitely watching Dragon Ball Z as a teenager sometime in 2012 or 2013. I remember vividly having entire weekends being just sleeping, eating, and binging Dragon Ball Z, like 12 hours a day every weekend!
This could be fun, but I'm surprised it'll be on Disney Plus. If anything could revive Cartoon Network, I would have thought it would have been Adventure Time
Yeah, Aardman are very much still stop motion (with a few tiny cheats, the stadium audience in Early Man and the sea in Pirates on an Adventure with Scientists).
Honestly, I think it's massively significant. For a start off, that's 20 million people, the population of Chile, in one quarter. That's a lot of people regardless of how you slice it.
But more to the point, Meta services - Facebook especially - have reached a point of cultural impact where anyone who doesn't have them can't be talked into getting them anyway. Plus, they're useful messaging services too, because everyone else uses them. Their popularity has become self-fulfilling. The idea of Meta losing more users than it's gaining at all has been frankly unthinkable until recently.
My favourite anime of all time! I wish it had a cinematic release, but I'm just glad to see the anime catch up on this bits of manga it missed!
