Paramedics reported that [officer] Perrotta declined treatment in the ambulance.
“I am fine, I just needed to get out of here,” she said, according to the report.
The report by Eliot Prescott, Connecticut’s inspector general, did not say whether the delay in waiting for another ambulance contributed to [victim] Best’s death.
Perrotta currently is out on administrative leave due to an unrelated matter...
He might have died even taking that first ambulance, but she certainly wouldn't have. What a disgrace.

As someone that wouldn't choose to travel into or through the United States, I can't say I would be surprised if I got back home after this ordeal and the medical bills started showing up. US healthcare will charge for anything under the sun. I half expect visitors will be sent invoices for travelling in the vicinity of a hospital in the near future.

The Bill Emerson Good Samaritan Food Donation Act (pdf) brought to law in 1996 shields most liability for people donating food exactly like he did.
This may have been a knee-jerk reaction from the employer incorrectly assuming they could be liable if someone got sick. Though its also possible they've been looking for a reason to dismiss a long time employee to replace him with a cheaper one. Corporate ownership makes me leans towards the latter.

You'd have to be in a tight spot to be fired and replaced to accept being rehired even at the same salary, never mind a smaller salary. I feel bad for these people. Hopefully they work a bit slower in proportion to the reduced pay.

I found an update about the vote to remove the three board members.
Homeowners voted 190 to 20 in favour of removal, however the board cancelled the vote claiming there wasn't a 24 hour notice given to the community and subsequently that 210 votes might not qualify a quorum of more than a thousand homes.
Imagine how amazing you would feel as a child to have a possession of yours put on display at a museum. Even if it was temporary, you'd remember that for the rest of your days.
