This isn't even a joke or hyperbolic.

This place used to have a lot of interesting shops. It's all gone now.

I took this photo in the basement of an "undead" mall in my city in Venezuela. It's both eerie and kinda sad.

You see, roughly speaking (and with a few spoilers from a couple of games from more than 10 years ago (the third one doesn’t exist)), in the Dead Space DUOLOGY there are these effigies that drive people mad, but not in a stereotypical makes-them-gouge-out-their-eyes or tear-off-their-skin way (though that happens too, sometimes), but in a more subtle way.

The effigy compels those close to it to create more effigies to increase its power, and makes them believe that it is the most logical and natural thing to do, that there is no alternative. Everyone involved thinks they have control over the effigy, that they can use it for their own purposes, but they are only deceiving themselves, causing more death and feeding the effigy.

I see certain parallels in how our techno-feudal lords are convinced that AI will be the infinite money hack they crave so much, while they burn billions of dollars, ruin their reputations, enshittifies the internet, and generally fuck us all over.

Maybe what we call "AI" is a Lovecraftian entity pulling the strings through this technology. Woooo~ 👻

(Obviously, I don’t take this idea seriously; it’s more of a creative exercise or, well, a shower thought.)

My Take

In my case, the albums that have become my favorites are the ones I feel I absolutely have to listen to from start to finish. Of course, there are standout tracks, and some, though good, might pale in comparison to others. But it’s the experience of listening to the entire album that captivates me.

Examples:

  • "Flowerboy" by Tyler, The Creator.
  • "Affinity" by Haken
  • "Brat" by Charli XCX
  • The debut album by Gentle Giant

What are your favorite albums and why?

ContextI'm a writer, but I'd like to be a comic book artist. I’ve been trying to learn how to draw on and off for years. At first, I felt like I didn’t have the talent for it, but looking back at what I’ve done in previous years, I think my problem is more about motivation. I just don’t find the same fulfillment in drawing as I do in writing. I’d like to find a way to break through this imaginary barrier...

From mediocre incompetents to outright villains.

Are they also going to block the ships that Iran and Japan agreed could pass through, for example? Are they really going to screw over a strategic ally like Japan just for...? You know what? Yeah, they definitely would.

If you only see the reaction of Venezuelans in exile, it gives the impression that this is the case.

I live in Venezuela. We are all terrified and devastated. Chavistas and opposition supporters alike.

Seeing images of your own home being bombed is not pleasant.

This kinda reminds me of that misogynistic parrot that only bites women, biting a trans girl.

Where I come from there is a saying: "Quien hambre tiene, en pan piensa" (Those who are hungry think of bread.)

95% sure is trolling. Yet, I'm also 100% sure a lot of those buffoons will not notice.

Wouldn't putting even one white performer in the show count as.... "Forced inclusion"?

I bet is an Spanish books translated to English, 'cause:

Tree = Árbol

Horse = Caballo

Star = Estrella

And so on

Well, you see, the "Anti Magic Rock" Lobby has immense amount of power because of the money of the still lucrative "burning stuff and pollute everything" business.
