This. My friend in HS went to guidance multiple times to complain about being bullied by another classmate. After the 2nd or 3rd time requesting thy switch his class, they decided to resolve the issue by forcing them to be partners for an assignment in class. He complained again, and was told to deal with it. One day my friend finally cracked and broke the bully's nose because he had enough and clearly the school was only willing to make this worse, so they called the police on my friend. It's pretty insane how some things get dealt with sometimes.

To be fair, once fuel prices go up the cost of EVERYTHING also goes up. So no it's not just about pain at the pump, it's pain at the grocery check out. Pain when the oil truck comes to deliver your liquid heat. Pain when you buy anything plastic, anything grown with fertilizers. People don't realize petroleum is in almost everything! And if it doesn't use a petroleum product in manufacturing, it certainly does in shipping.

Back in the late 70/early 80s, Harley couldn't compete with the Japanese bikes so they lobbied to daddy fed to make sure all the foreign bikes got tarriffed out of existence over 700cc. So the Japanese said "hold my soju" and made 699cc motorcycles that still made more power than the gargantuan Harley bikes of the time. USA has always tried to give US based companies a leg up over objectively superior products. Our tax dollars are why there are any American car companies left, sure Ford didn't get a direct bail out but we use them for police and other service vehicles across the country which has helped keep them afloat. Plus obviously Chrysler and GM taking govt bailouts and still flailing desperately while making trash vehicles and wondering why they don't sell. The American auto industry doesn't struggle to keep pace, it has NEVER caught up to or even compared to the rest of the world. They have always been 30+ years behind any European or Asian vehicle.

Ford can't hire techs cuz they don't pay shit. No robot with any amount of ai nonsense in it will ever be remotely capable of replacing a mechanic. When is it ok to get the acetylene torch out? How does the bolt FEEL as you undo it, is it about to snap? Do u need to pump heat into it and feed it some wax? Did you spill brake fluid on the customers paint? Was the customer concern duplicated before determining what the repair was? Who did the diagnostic work? Was it test driven and quality checked afterward? Was the customer made aware of any other potential issues down the road? Ai and robots may be able to help in menial and manufacturing tasks but would never be capable of repair in automotive, especially not anywhere rust is common !

This is the sort of adoption we need to bring Linux into the mainstream
