I'm not saying this is fair, or accounts for the full amount. But there are things like R&D tax kickbacks companies can get, which are designed to incentivise companies to do R&D in Australia. There are probably other kickback incentives. Now, do I think these companies could (or should be able to) legitimately tally up these kickbacks to net a nil tax bill - no, probably not. But I'm not even close to an expert

They've done this in a few areas of Melbourne. The fatal injury data is certainly a compelling case:

"the risk of fatality for a pedestrian hit by a vehicle travelling at 30km/h is around 10%, compared to approximately 40% at 40km/h and more than 80% at 50km/h."
https://acrs.org.au/evidence-supports-30km-h-speed-limits-in-school-zones/

I will admit that driving at 30km/h is pretty painful sometimes.

Yep. Currently it's the first Friday of roughly 8 months in the year. Next one is the 7thof August.

Like ratatouille only mouse-ier. A great band that often squeezes on stage with ~9 members from all parts of the ochestra as well as rock band (violin, trombone, clarinet). Cool interplay between fun tunes and sad-core vocals.

Know any bands with a similar line up?

Hum, by kisses [Indie Folk Rock] (kisses5eva.bandcamp.com)

I've listened to kisses' album a number of times now and really love it. Saw them play recently as well and they were great. Very melancholic, but searingly beautiful. I take "the Eastern" [highway] to work most days and definitely feel the hum.

Yep. We changed our home lightbulbs to LED, we got more efficient heating/cooling systems and appliances installed in our homes. (My gov provided incentives for these things). I thought it was to reduce our energy consumption and save us some cash on bills. But nup, turns out it just freed up energy to burn on LLM data centres.

"However, researchers found given participants were likely to slightly reduce their reliance on cars, it showed experiencing car-free living, even briefly, could help people break away from automobility."
I think this is an important secondary take away here. Reducing car use is still much better than continuing at current rate. (Similar to eating less meat vs going vegan cold turkey).
Owning a car does come with large sunk-costs tho - so you won't feel the full financial benefit from just reducing car use (still have to pay rego, insurance, maintenance etc.)

Be Kind Rewind is a quirky movie where they end up making these Mockbusters. Don't recommend if you don't like Jack Black. Do recommend if you like Mos Def.

I'm a daily rider who's followed Savic for a while now and would love to switch to electric. Their C-series Alpha is a propper, fully electric motorcycle and they've started public test rides so I thought I'd give it a go. I might write a brief summary of my thoughts in the comments, but yeh, feel free to chime in. Would love to know if others have ridden propper Emotos here.

Probably bought ahead of time, from China to save on tarrifs.

I assume there will be questions... it was built from a cheap, small classical guitar to be something I could travel with~
The pickup you see is not currently wired up (dun worry I know it won't work with nylon strings - it's there if/when I wanna try steel strings.) There is a piezo pickup under the bridge at the moment. The strings route over the roller bridge, around another set of rollers and then to tuners - which is the headstock I chopped off the neck.
It's pretty quiet and gross, but also fun to play and work on for a laugh.

I learned a few things from recent rolls. Yep, this camera has a sizable light leak. And the new scanners at airports cause noticeable Xray damage (never used to have a problem).

Following sports. Being a die hard sports fan is time consuming and stressful. Obviously betting on sports is an addiction people talk about now, but even tipping comps and fantasy football type leagues are things that rob you of time and energy.
