Anybody have first-hand experience with a place called Code Ninjas? https://www.codeninjas.com/

I have friends with an early-elementary aged child who is showing some interest in programming. Another family friend programmed a simple video game for them, and know the child is talking about programming their own game, but they don't have any knowledge besides making some simple Scratch scenes.

The family lives near one of the company's locations and were wondering whether it would be a fun thing to try. Nobody is expecting the kid to be a professional developer coming out, but it would be nice if they learned at least some basics about loops and so on (i.e., they'd rather the students not just be set in front of a screen to vibe code everything). Also, obviously, they'd want it to be fun for their kid.

It's hard to trust any general online reviews, so I was hoping someone here would be willing to share!

I'm building a web analytics tool called DataQuest, but I'm experimenting with a different way of visualizing user behavior.

The core feature is the visual data concept, each page is represented by a box and each active visitor is represented by a dot.

When a user navigates from one page to another, their dot actually moves along the path between the two pages in real time.

So you could literally watch:

Homepage → Features → Pricing → Signup

with each dot representing a real visitor.

I'm wondering if this would actually be useful to founders/developers, or if it's just a cool visualization that doesn't provide enough practical value.

Additionally, most good analytics tools are ridiculously expensive especially when you have several projects.

Would you use something like this? What would you want to see on the live map?

Partying like it's 1977!

I recently stumbled on the finger protocol through happynetbox and thought it was pretty cool, so I wrote a finger server that reads user data from text files. It's a pretty simple protocol, but I think it's a fun way to enable a simple smolnet-style status page :)

If you routinely “get heated” at work, the best-case scenario is that you’re part of a tight-knit team of confident people who aren’t put off by it. No harm, no foul. But the second someone comes onto your team who’s not so confident, or you have to communicate outside of your team, it becomes a big problem. It’s a bad way to treat your colleagues — even undirected or casual anger intimidates and alienates the people around you — and it makes you a less effective engineer.

The last three months have not looked good for Bun. It started as one of the most impressive individual engineering projects I have seen, but has now turned into this weird AI-powered creature with continuous false promises and an increasingly frustrated community.
