This is why I came around to adopting the newer language of "DMs/direct messages" instead of the former "PMs/private messages."

So make the manager's password massive. There, that complete sentence just now is over 30 characters long and could literally be a password. You can double up security with a secret file that you must locate on your PC, in KeePass, at least. You can also add notes about entries, track more than just website accounts, etc. It's just too much brainpower to remember individual websites' passwords. All important ones have 2FA anyway.

Managers are local to your computer so you likely messed up big-time if it got hacked, whereas websites can get hacked entirely out of our control.

It seems like what's actually horrible would be those websites' implementation. But yeah, I'm definitely sticking with a manager.

Wait, you type passwords? KeePassXC's auto-type awaits!

Come on, you can't just say this and leave without naming the app lol.

Seems like it should be BI/OS, then, haha.

Amazon will become worthless.

Half of the Internet is run by AWS, Amazon Web Services. Even if the retail front entirely died, Amazon would still survive for decades at minimum, if not centuries.

You mean Uniqlo?

And it has problems; try changing the color theme and it keeps requesting your password. Some stuff is seriously messed up in CachyOS's Noctalia+Hyprland setup, which I tried in the past month. I'm gonna try Pop!_OS+COSMIC sometime soon; hopefully that'll rock, or else I'll revert to the tried-&-true Mint Cinnamon.

I would much prefer lighter phones, personally.

Totally off-topic: the Viofo A119 Mini v2 is one of the best dashcams ever made (speaking as another user of it!). Good stuff.

Also, that driver is insane.

I just got this in my email, but am not sure.

I just finished bulk-marking them as "not spam" in an attempt to undo the work, and I always check my spam inbox manually anyway, but I just thought this was... interesting, as I've never had anything remotely like this happen before in my life. Does anyone have any idea of how this happened? Why is such a piece of software still allowed in managers?

I just tried adding my Matrix account to Betterbird but I strongly prefer everything in dark mode whenever possible. Is it possible to add dark mode to Thunderbird chats?

I was trying to leave my current Android app but it didn't show on there for me just now.

It's already built-in as F10 or Edit → Sort! ~~It'd really be handy to have this. I don't know how to add new plugins to the settings' "Plugins" section. It seems strange that there's no link in there to some plugin hub or something.~~

Is this, like, incredibly novel, common, or somewhere in between? I've never heard of this apart from WLS...

How do I add the font Candara to Firefox's fonts? It has so few of the standard fonts. I'd love to get this on here, but I can't figure out how.

PeppermintOS? I'm trying to prepare an ancient Chromebook C202S for Linux and have had some ideas from antiX to MXLinux and Loc-OS, but it seems that PeppermintOS may be among the best choices.

The tech level of this Chromebook's end user is unlikely to work well with Arch + BSPWM, which was recommended to me by someone else.

Seeing that duplicated question kinda makes me trust them less, like this was AI-gen or a surprisingly careless mistake...

What I read online seemed to say that Proton Bridge is required, and is not free. That sucks, if so...

I read somewhere on Reddit that people who use Linux should periodically, manually check for security updates to their computers' BIOS from their motherboard manufacturers, because Linux apparently ends automatic updates once you leave Windows. I have no idea of where to look on the ASUS website for my Zenbook 14, or if that's even the right place. Could anyone give any guidance on this matter? Is this a thing that we should indeed be doing semiannually or something?

And what else should I be doing on a schedule (even if annually), while I'm at it? Haha.

Edit: thanks, everyone!

  1. Set the custom keyboard shortcut sh -c 'pgrep -i keepassxc > /dev/null || keepassxc' to Alt+V
  2. Keep KeePassXC's default autotype prompt keybinding, which is Alt+V

One disables the other. I thought that going the grep route might make the program opener conditionally inactive, but apparently that's not doing anything. I would really like to avoid using a separate keybinding if possible. Otherwise, I guess I'd just have to have it open on launch.
