Work week ended on a slightly depressing note but it's good to see you guys here.

Been feeling like I have a massive constant headache lately, it's a semi regular thing. Went to the pharmacist to renew my birth control and get some aspirin for my headaches. The pharmacist actually ran back up to me whilst I was paying to suggest that maybe I'm having a bad reaction to the birth control, it's a potential side effect. I'm so grateful to her quick thinking. Heading back to my GP next week.

Thanks for the supportive comments everyone. 🥹 I actually gave the FREE Nurse -On-Call service a ring as well, just because I started getting a bit worried after reading some other potential symptoms I might be having. Regardless the nurse was so thorough and amazing, and I didn't have to leave my bed. It's a free service and saves a trip to the doc (I'll still go to change my birth control).

But anyway, +1 for free Nurse on Call.

This is one of those weird days where I feel extremely good about myself and life and things but part of that involves cheerfully imagining work doesn't exist at all. I stare at my inbox and to do list and it might as well be hieroglyphics.

I've been selected for jury duty for the first time and I am genuinely stoked.

Me: I don't watch to many period dramas Also me: that cobblestone wall and iron gateway were featured in...

Although to be fair on myself I do have a pretty intensely vivid memory, a glance is usually enough for me to remember something, it's like an uncomfortable super power.

I'm feeling nostalgic. How good was it being a kid (if you are my age) and waiting for new episodes of the Simpsons, or even daily episodes on Channel 10 at 6 just after neighbours (and my dad yelling to turn the tv down because he hated the neighbours theme song)

What makes you feel nostalgic?

I kinda feel a bit pensive tonight for some reason. I stood out on the porch listening to the rain hitting the roof just starting off into space for a while earlier. I guess it's one of those nights

Gah. Apparently my offer to the house was the best and they have indicated they will accept it but there is a hiccup on a house they put an offer on and waiting on it to be sorted before anything official. I'm not sure what the hiccup is or how it affects their plans if it falls through but still more waiting and hope.

Story time to cheer this place up a bit. So this was about 2002 and the man and I went to Sydney for a few nights. We stayed in the Ibis which was in Darling Harbour. At about 9:30 there was a massive display of fireworks. It went for about 10 minutes. We're both thinking what the fuck is this about (It was Melbourne cup weekend so we were very confused). We decided to go for a walk and we ended up at the convention centre (I think that's what it's called). Big sign out the front WELCOME. Heaps and heaps of very happy people around, lots of colours, music playing, just a really good atmosphere. A little bit of curiosity and a throng of people propelled us into this building (the man whispers into my ear "I think someone just touched me on the arse") and up or down the escalator (I can't remember) people hugging and kissing and cheering and waving and lots of noise and we are inching along, heading for a door. Then I spot the sign next to the door WELCOME TO THE GAY GAMES.

The man is bopping along to the music and then I had to tell him "I think we're gatecrashing". I point to the sign. We are nearly at the door. We look at each other and turn around to head out. Very similar to Ikea when you go the opposite way but worst. The man says "I got tapped on the bum three times in there". In all fairness he has got a great bum.

Still to this day we don't know what the gay games are about but everyone was having a great time.

Side note: We had access to the Novetel pool next door where we stole 4 brand new bath towels.

I warm up quickly, but I get legit cold which is a wonder with some of the body fat I carry.

Like I am waiting for a flight dressed like an Eskimo. I have a tee on, a heat tech turtleneck, a jumper and a poncho that looks like a sleeping bag.

Meanwhile, stylish people just be jeans and light jumpers… or even just tees. I’m wearing more than an older adult couple sitting a few rows away from me. 😂

I think I need to start thinking of myself and looking after myself better.

Someone else complaining of not being relieved in time from duty so they can have their lunch, all while I always get relieved late, I'm always starting on time and taken advantage of while this other person who is filling today, while their timetable might have been filled up, didn't turn up for at least the first 5 minutes and was on their phone the entire time of their yard duty while I did the heavy lifting.

And I suck it up just about every week taking it. I think that now needs to stop because I'm grumpy, tired and peeved off.

[–] PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 8 points 1 year ago

Exercises completed. Felt a bit stiff and sore after my little tumble last night.

No Mr Peeler needed a Dr to attend last night over a non emergency but still serious matter which we were worried was worsening and turning into something else. I called 13sick. Long story short, after telling me there was a Dr in the area, they then sent a txt msg that there wasn't and switched it to a Telehealth appointment, which in this instance was next to useless. When the Dr finally rang he told me that Mr Peeler needed to see a Dr in person for an examination. Well duh, thought I, who has 0 years of med school. Lots of bad reviews.

For lunch I bought a Campbells pumpkin soup. I rarely have soup but i have a headcold, didn't want to make a batch from scratch and felt like something soothing.

This is not very nice soup. Way too sweet and not thick. I don't think I'm gonna finish it.

Luckily the knot rolls I got from the bakery are perfection.

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 6 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Add a bit of milk to it. It'll take away some of the sweetness. Or chilli flakes.

I'm on a mission to try a bunch of US chains I've seen on TV/movies. Tonight is Panda Express. We have some of the best Asian food outside of Asia so this would need to impress hard.

Verdict: excellent food court Chinese food, because that's exactly what it is, nothing more. I've had a LOT worse and not heaps better.

2 days ago I complained of it being a rough 24 hours. I had no idea. Kiddo got sent home from daycare and put on quarantine for a fever. Needed a sick note to get him back in. Mrs just started a new job so I stepped up. Doctors office was being a shit about the medical note to get him to return, kiddo was unhappy and the mrs's supposedly fixed car died in the arse at 100kmh on the freeway. Yeah.... im tired.

I made toum in the food processor instead of my usual stick blender and it gave me trouble. Stick to what you know works people. Anyway I got it to emulsify eventually and it's delicious.

Here's my toum (lebanese garlic sauce)
It's freaking delicious. I can't stop eating it.

[–] Force_majeure122@aussie.zone 8 points 1 year ago (4 children)

Just tried the Aldi herring in mustard sauce. Not a fan. The sauce was no good unfortunately. Aldi herring in tomato is decent though. Pretty good to just dump the tin into some pasta and mix.
Overall, I am finding I pretty much only want my tinned fish to be in olive oil, nothing else - and no other oil.

I love Friday night because I get to stay up as long as I want without worrying about the time. During the week I get about 3 hours to myself every evening.

Friday's I go to bed around 4am-ish.

I don't do anything special, just bum around the house with the cat playing video games and guitar.

I feel like a 12 year old lol

[–] StudChud@aussie.zone 7 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I like staying up late on my balcony on Friday evenings, I can hear Sydney Rd, drum and bass, mingling with gigs, people laughing and falling over, the ding of trams and the horns of trains. Honks, beeps, and swears. I can't sleep in suburbia anymore; way too quiet.

Can't sleep. But I want to. Deep breathing, stretches, nada.

Guess I'll play bg3 and hopefully sleep will take me.

Remind me to make a doctors appointment in the morning, thnx.
