I'm not sure we have large enough user base to split off like that quite yet. You could give it a try though! I also welcome you making a weekly thread on it if you'd like and I can pin it up :)

Yeah, agreed, a separate community may not be the right thing at this stage. Thanks for your response.
The weekly thread, what would you think the topic should be? Just asking people to post Gamepass recommendations? Think I can do that! I've also tried a month or so ago to write a bot to do weekly posts on another community, but was broken due to Lemmy upgrades. I could look at reviving that code for this purpose perhaps as I tend to forget things :D
I really liked the what games are you playing? On Game Pass.
A bot would be fantastic. I'd probably do something like:
"Weekly Community Gamepass Recommendations" What games would you recommend the community try out?
Something like that. You can probably come up with something better.
Will have a look over the weekend!
Argh! lemmy ate my comment.
Well, I was suggesting manually posting the weekly threads, instead of automating them via bot. Personally, I find it more engaging when the poster shares something themselves too. For instance, rather than just having an automated post "Share your recommendations", it feels better when poster share their own recommendation first, and then ask for recommendations in return. Same for other weekly threads.
Just my $0.02
Yeah maybe you're right. Would be nice if anyone can open the thread as if I have to do it, it will probably not happen weekly :)
From a [META] post on "New Communities" community, that I agree with:
Also please consider whether you need to create a community! When there are 100 million users of the site, there may be 1000 people who are interested in the same exact niche tabletop RPG as you, but there are <500,000 users here for now, so you’ll be lucky to find 10. Consider creating a thread in a broader community (like boardgames) until you have enough people talking in the thread that it gets messy - then it’s time to create a separate community.
Gamepass is of course not as niche as that, but I think it's still better to keep to keep it here, until you feel there are enough people and discussion on the specific topic to warrant a separate community.
No.
