Feeling better. At the end of the day, I never give up. I wouldn't be here now if I was like that.

So the job search continues.

Owing to Chef’s obtainment of a second shift job, Breakfast at the usual Breakfast time will cease in one (1) month. Would patrons like Elevenses instead, or for the daily food service to meet its end?

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 9 points 5 months ago (2 children)

Congratulations on a new job! I think you should move to a food truck and when you're in the area, give a little toot and see who's hungry.

Hot jam doughnuts. nom

[–] bacon@aussie.zone 6 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

Thank you! I shall do so, beep beep!

[–] Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 6 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Congrats! I would be happy with whatever the chef prefers, so long as the after eight business continues. I second the food truck idea - pure genius!

Guys this is my birthday present. And yeah this baby connects to the amp/receiver thus beaming my singing voice through the Wharfedales Γ— 7. Friday nights are gonna be even more funner.

Very full. Can't move. Cake has been postponed until tomorrow.

[–] imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 7 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Too full for a little sing with the new microphone? Or are you saving that for Friday?

Bom app is claiming that it's 8c but I don't believe that. A brief trip to the kitchen for water felt like being blasted with ice water

[–] Duenan@aussie.zone 6 points 5 months ago (1 children)

I’m sitting in the couch under a throw blanket not wanting to move from the comfort of the warmth.

I know I’ll eventually need to come out from this if I want to have dinner :/

Still upset about what my friend said last night. I somewhat gave up on our closeness a while ago since he got into a relationship.

But to think that someone you considered family thinks so little of your capabilities is hurtful.

Full disclosure: I'm on disability support pension. The way it works is if you're employed you report your income and if something happens, you don't have to reapply.

So when he said "maybe you should just stay on DSP", it was like a knife in the chest.

Sorry for the rant, but it's been bugging me.

This isnt the same guy who uses you as an emotional support pillow, right?

[–] Gibsonisafluffybutt@aussie.zone 6 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Sadly it is. It's my own fault for letting these people into my life. But sometimes you're desperate just to have friends. Especially when you don't have family.

It hurts when the people we expect to support our endeavors shit all over them instead.

Fuck what he said. You want a job in the field you know. You've done it before, you can get another one too. Use his shithouse attitude as your motivator, prove him wrong. You are intelligent and clever, capable. I believe in you!

Today is World Environment Day and also my birthday. I shall be spending this earthy day preening myself and later, drinking margaritas.

Final night in Japan. Pretty bushed but satisfied with how the day went and also ready to go home. It feels nice to think of somewhere in Australia really as home after over a decade of uncertainty.

My bag is absolutely packed to the max with stuff including like 1kg of tea in 13 different packets. And thankfully there's a free laundry at the hotel so I don't have to travel with the last few days clothes stinking everything up. Feeling pretty good about things and glad not to be dreading work...

You know what it is? At least in my workplace: Its become easier to ASK someone rather than engage your own brain. And i fucking HATE it. Where are the managers in all this? Oh they're "Too Busy" to know their staff are incompetent as fuck? C'mon!!! if I get one more @everyone "ITS NOT WOOOOOORKING" message on teams I'm gonna lose my fucking mind.

@Force_majeure123@aussie.zone @underwatermagpies@aussie.zone good luck with your interviews!

@MeanElevator@aussie.zone I don't know if you took your interview yesterday or if it's coming up, but I hope it went well or otherwise best of luck!

[–] Force_majeure123@aussie.zone 5 points 5 months ago (4 children)

Thank you πŸ™ I've been awake since 3, running through interview scenarios in my head compulsively - and not on purpose. Not a great start to the day but I'll still smash it

My interview seemed to go okay, I got the impression that I was all but confirmed, pending formalities. The conversation of my salary was not broached. I suppose I will need to bring it up when they make their job offer formal

Volunteering shift today. Hopefully I won't be alone for four hours of it like last week. I think it'll be me and one other person today but I can't remember.

Wish me luck

[–] Nath@aussie.zone 8 points 5 months ago (4 children)

So our public holiday threw my start to the week all askew. I only just checked the AFL tipping results and well, I sucked at tipping last weekend. I only got one game correct. 😞

I know this sounds crazy but I am envious that America has all those Trump and other corrupt traitors on trial and going to jail.

If only the bastards here would be brought to be justice we would be so much better off. They just do evil shit here, politicians and business owners , and get away with it.

I bought a humidifier a few years ago but never used it. Mainly because I was worried about the water settling on a nearby powerboats and causing problems, but I've found a nice place for it to live in my room not so close to electronics that I'm too worried. I didn't know what to put into it so I just used a couple drops of lemon juice until I get some essential oils. Omg this is so nice. Nobody told me it was more like a vapour than steam. I just assumed it was a heating element that steamed a tank of water out a little hole in the top.

I still am a little concerned about potential humidity issues and mould, but I might just run it for a couple of hours before bed to make a nice smelly atmosphere with some lavender or something

Edit: I'm just now realising that a diffuse and a humidifier are not the same thing. I have a diffuser, not a humidifier

I'm more intrigued as to why you have multiple high-speed watercraft in your house...

(Sorry couldn't resist - downvote as appropriate...) :|

Throwing up another emoji question thing.

Good luck

The date is a bit of a giveaway. And I do not see what cupcakes have to do with it. Needs rats as a bare minimum too.

I'm up late having tried (very unsuccessfully) to finish this giant bottle of sake given to me last week. I've packed all my gifts into bundles with food items separate. Now I'm hungry...

...but I remembered I bought gyoza from the combini. Snack time!!

[–] Baku@aussie.zone 6 points 5 months ago (5 children)

For some reason last night I had a random bout of motivation and decided it was time for a yearly thorough clean in my bedroom. It's not quite 11 months since I moved in, but I have the motivation now, so decided to get it over with. My desk was kinda gross underneath. I didn't realise how much crap managed to fall under it (it's a wheely one with the top desky part but then another desk layer thing at the bottom, so nothing underneath it is visible). It's easy to move, but my computer and screens and such are on it, so moving it requires unplugging everything, hence why I haven't done it before.

The area around my desk also ended up caked in several layers of dust and grime and I don't understand how it's possible for it to be that dusty. It's just the area near my desk. Even the areas in my room I've never wiped or moved aren't that dusty. They have a thin layer of dust, sure, but the stuff next to my desk has like a decades worth of dust accumulated. The housemate was getting rid of an air purifier with a HEPA filter before he moved out and offered it to me, so that should help. Unfortunately, it seems to have been a one time aldi special buy thing from 2020 and nobody sells filters for them, so he said he just vacuums the filter out every few months. Hopefully it'll do the trick though

Tried to mellow the extra spicy ramen I accidentally brought a 4 pack off cause I'm trying to waste less food. I managed to get 3/4 of the way through the bowl before losing it. My lips are on fire!

Ahh... Today has sucked for Miss Molly Moocat. She got gross antibiotics for her uti. Then she didn't want to drink her expensive shop bought broth... (Maybe because there's turmeric and parsley in it, I don't know. Maybe I might lash out on some meat next shop and stew some very plain stuff for her at home.) She also got her wiggies cleaned because she was growing potatoes in there. Plus a sensitivity to this antibiotic is going to give her at least one ear infection and they need to be clean for the medicated drops.

I'm pretty pissed off myself. I'm pre-emptively tightening my belt for Winter and bracing for any more medical costs for either of us, and saw that this lady had been having a self righteous whinge about being "demonised" for owning multiple investment properties. My god, have a sook.

Edit: Also the whining about her and her husband not getting certain kinds of welfare (because they don't need it) and self righteously claiming that they're avoiding being a burden by not taking it... nice to see that casual classism and ableism there. Real nice. Because obviously vulnerable people choose to be disadvantaged and/or disabled.

...I wonder what quality of stew a landlord makes.
