Okay I'm not trying to defend Fox here, but it seems like this was a joke.

[–] Frozengyro@lemmy.world 90 points 1 year ago (2 children)

But will their viewers know that?

[–] Cyclist@lemmy.world 33 points 1 year ago

And therein lies the rub.

Idk what’s with the downvotes. Maybe people can’t do without a /s

[–] Ragdoll_X@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Oh well, it is what it is, guess I'll add the /s

Or they need some supporting evidence for the "we're entertainment, not news" argument at trial.

[–] HWK_290@lemmy.world 74 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Of course Biden is in league with... Hillary

[–] HWK_290@lemmy.world 35 points 1 year ago (2 children)
[–] HWK_290@lemmy.world 36 points 1 year ago (1 children)

[–] HWK_290@lemmy.world 15 points 1 year ago

This is too easy. Big water... Ocean water

IF I YOUR FAVORITE PRESIDENT TRUMP was in this situation NOW I would LITERALLY WRITE AN AI that HACKS the JEWISH SPACE LASERS SPONSORED by FAUX FAUCI and made THEM DESTROY the hurricane with 8K ULTRA PRESISON believe ME I'VE seen them they're the WORST lasers EVER SEEN but my HACK that was made by ME and the BEST team they're good guys! Very fine people! would have made them STRONG enough TO DESTROY THE HURRICANE. Meanwhile DeSanctimonious who is a BAD man and many of the BEST PEOPEL are saying it! is in BED with BIDEN and the DEEP STATE to STEER the hurricane to KILL my voters! It's true! They LITERALLY called the HURRICANE Hillary! It's the WORST hurricane believe me! I've seen it myself and ALL the GOOD people say it's the WORST! DON'T TRUST THEM! Vote TRUMP 2024 and stay safe!

Wait this isn't an Onion post...

[–] stevedidWHAT@lemmy.world 15 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I refuse boing boing as a reputable news source lol

[–] ElBarto@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 year ago

The onion has been dead for a long time, how can you satire the news when the news is batshit crazy.

[–] WeaselBoy@lemmy.world 19 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I bet Trump’s wall would have stopped it. Take that liberals

[–] GiddyGap@lemm.ee 4 points 1 year ago

Nah, Trump would just have drawn a different path with his Sharpie. Problem solved.

[–] pedz@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 year ago

Would have tried to nuke it.

[–] starrox@sh.itjust.works 17 points 1 year ago

Had a prolonged laughflash right after reading the headline. Then it dawned on me: Some stupid fucks watching fox are actually going to believe this nonsense :-(

[–] Bendavisunlv6@lemmynsfw.com 14 points 1 year ago (7 children)

It’s kind of an obvious joke about the border and immigration. The storm made landfall in Mexico and is now moving into the US. Conservatives think Biden just lets everyone in Mexico come over the border, so that’s the joke. Meanwhile liberals are laughing because they take it literally and think conservatives believe a storm can be detained. Come on folks. You need to be able to get a joke that was crafted for someone else or you are really stuck in your perspective.

[–] aesthelete@lemmy.world 36 points 1 year ago (2 children)

It's a joke but it's a really low quality one.

[–] Pips@lemmy.film 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

All the pieces to the joke are there but Fox proved yet again that conservatives suck at comedy.

[–] aesthelete@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Yeah the work of joke writing is taking those pieces and assembling them together in a way that makes it funny.

But you know what they say: lazy, entitled conservatives just don't want to do the work.

[–] Bendavisunlv6@lemmynsfw.com 2 points 1 year ago

Agreed. It’s what’s called a cheap shot.

[–] halferect@lemmy.world 18 points 1 year ago

It's hard to tell since the last time the republican party was in charge the leader of the party seriously thought you could just nuke a hurricane so I would not be surprised if the viewers of fox actually do blame Biden and think you can detain a hurricane

Bruh this is the party of "Jewish space lasers"

It's hard to hear anything they say as coming from the mouth of anything other than a 4 year old

[–] HellAwaits@lemm.ee 8 points 1 year ago

You realize Fox News has said crazier shit that weren't jokes? Remember when FN called Jamie Lee Curtis for being a hypocrite when it comes to gun control and she wielded a gun in a movie?

Honestly, it's hard to tell when they're "joking". I think it's far more likely they just throw shit against the wall and see what sticks. Sure, many publications do that, but no outlet does it more disingenuously than FN. I'm not willing to give that network the benefit of a doubt.

[–] CarlsIII@kbin.social 5 points 1 year ago

Either they’re serious, and that’s bad, or they made a joke that wasn’t funny, which is also bad. I’ll roll my eyes either way.

[–] Nougat@kbin.social 4 points 1 year ago

So appropriate to joke about natural disasters.

[–] dragonflyteaparty@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

If so, it's a really bad joke. Faux news has said equally crazy things.

[–] sik0fewl@kbin.social 11 points 1 year ago (1 children)

He didn't even bring them paper towels!

[–] bdesk@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago
[–] xc2215x@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Biden is not to blame for the hurricane or any natural disaster.

[–] formergijoe@lemmy.world 19 points 1 year ago

Yeah he is. He could have just changed the path of the storm with a Sharpie like Great Lord Trump, Bringer of Rains.

If Biden had finished Trump's wall it would have put Hilary in jail.

[–] eran_morad@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago

Have they tried using hunter biden’s dick pics to stop it?

[–] Grant_M@lemmy.ca 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

In Canada the RW/Kremlin trolls blame our PM for the fires. Same deal.

[–] Bonehead@kbin.social 0 points 1 year ago (1 children)

At least that has a thin veneer of plausibility. Technically, Trudeau could personally setting fires purposely, in that any person could set a fire in multiple locations across the country. Expecting someone to be able to stop a hurricane from entering the country is a whole new level of trolling.

[–] Grant_M@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Both are ridiculous and have ZERO plausibility.

[–] Bonehead@kbin.social 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yes, both are ridiculous. But setting a fire is a lot more plausible than stopping a hurricane.

[–] Grant_M@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It's NOT plausible to suggest my PM is setting fires.

[–] Bonehead@kbin.social 7 points 1 year ago

Yes, of course, in reality it is not plausible that the prime minister of Canada is purposely setting wildfires. However, it is more plausible that Trudeau could physically set a fire than Biden could stop a hurricane. That's the only point I was making.

[–] Spaghetti_Hitchens@kbin.social 8 points 1 year ago (2 children)

It's not the rain that's the problem with Hilary; it's the emails.

[–] TubeTalkerX@kbin.social 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Buttery Males slipped right in!

[–] utopianfiat@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago

Well they were good and lubricated for the task
