Did the old toy sale laybuy for Christmas at Big W.

Laybuy is surprisingly backward. You need to go in store to pay it off and they give you a receipt with a barcode you're supposed to scan to do so

[โ€“] Baku@aussie.zone 3 points 5 months ago (1 children)

The pessimistic part of me says that's because they don't want laybys to compete with BNPL bs like AfterPay. Although that stuff should be meant for things you need right now but can't afford, I imagine a lot less people would be using it at Christmas time if laybuys were as well advertised as after pay

[โ€“] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 4 points 5 months ago (1 children)

I get that feeling too. It would be possible to turn that regular barcode into a QR code and associate it with a Big W account.

You don't get into debt with laybuy, you don't get an item you're then obligated to pay off, and you not get as aggressive fees for cancelling a laybuy

Been in a found footage/handheld cam horror mood lately and watched what I think might be the worst movie I've ever seen called Dashcam.

It actually does a good (if not repetitive) job of jump scares but my god, the main character is such a piece of crap. The main character uses the same name as the actor and it's set during covid and she's anti-vax, anti-mask, etc. (apparently not too far off this persons personality), she steals her friends car, steals food, has zero redeemable qualities and to make it worse as she is being chased by this parasite/monster thing she starts uttering these random phrases like 'cm on my tts, fk me in a' etc. It is so so cringey.

Worst of all

spoilerShe's the only survivor.

Two others I watched are Unfriended, and Deadstream which were both good and I recommend them.

Unfriended is good, and I agree: Dashcam sucks ass.

I really really enjoyed Spree (2020). About a kid-turned-serial-killer who wants to go viral, but it's all through his phone recording on the dash the inside of the car. I found the acting to be good, and enjoyed the overall plot.

On the found footage genre, I liked The Taking of Deborah Logan (2014), and Lake Mungo (2008) was exceptional, definitely recommend them both.

Also recommend Creep (2014) and it's sequel, and As Above, So Below (2014).

The VHS series is hit and miss.

I love horror and this subgenre, apologies for the ramble.

Edit: I have also discovered that apparently 2014 was a pretty good year for film lol

I have both of them on my list to watch! I'll move them up the order.

such a dry winter so far, at least this gives time to do garden work, nothing worse than gardening when it's cold and wet, hands get so cold then

UBank just sent me an email. Apparently they're changing their savings rates. If you don't deposit at least $500 per month into any of your accounts, you get 0% interest on your savings.

I originally joined them because it was a 5% interest rate if you deposited at least $200 per month into any account, and was displeased when they upped that to $500. But now they're lowering their regular interest rate to 0%...

Woollies seaweed flavored rice crackers are weird. Not at all like the Sakata ones - and the Aldi seaweed rice crackers are like the Sakata ones but not as much seaweed. The Woollies ones are more like salt & vinegar pringles. 100% do NOT recommend. Will use the remainder of the packet crushed as a sprinkle on the next tray bake. They are not nice as crackers.
