i just released a long loud fart, now i must wait for the person in the next toilet cubicle to leave first

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 8 points 5 months ago (2 children)

Walk out, lock eyes with them and do it louder. Assert dominance.

My deepest darkest fear is being stuck in a situation like this, and having it develop into a game of chicken - with neither party wanting to exit the cubicle first for fear of revealing themselves

Oh I forgot to mention something from the kiddos music students performance thingo on the weekend which I noticed. 95-05 era fashion is BACK!! The kids looked like they were transported directly from my youth. Baggy/grungy looks are in, which pleases me as it was the most comfortable time to look cool.

[–] MeanElevator@aussie.zone 8 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Can confirm. My kids are all about loose and comfy wear.

Big jeans, big jumpers. Even a touch of flannel.

[–] TinyBreak@aussie.zone 5 points 5 months ago

Even a touch of flannel.

loving that Flannel is back tbh. I reckon the hardyakka work wear jacket looks pretty good hey.

I got me some cargo pants the other week, they're back in and the extra pockets are so practical.

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 12 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Got my Bavarian dessert out of the freezer. Laughed at the 6 servings suggestion. Ate 3 serves with whipped cream.

[–] Gibsonisafluffybutt@aussie.zone 6 points 5 months ago (1 children)

"suggestions". They know what they're doing.

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 6 points 5 months ago (3 children)

Their "suggestion" would mean a sliver for 6 disappointed diners.

It went ok-ish. I stumbled at the tech question. So we'll see.

That's ok though, another on Thursday with a different place and that's pure account management.

[–] TinyBreak@aussie.zone 5 points 5 months ago (2 children)

What was the topic if you dont mind me asking?

I don't know what is up with the lady who lives next door in the disability housing, but every damn day I hear her dry retching. Full on HUAUGH! multiple times in a row, echoing in the alley.

So glad I don't get nauseous from hearing someone retch. And my partner, who does get sick from hearing it, is a bit deaf so he can't hear her. Idk how he can't hear her, she's audible to me even when I'm inside.

HUAUGH HUAUGH

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 6 points 5 months ago

Some disabilities come with chronic nausea πŸ‘ Or something like cyclic vomiting syndrome. Probably the simplest explanation.

Still not fun to hear, sounds distressing. I swear Aussie builds are so shit and close together

[–] TinyBreak@aussie.zone 11 points 5 months ago

F me, 72 comments here 34 at the other place... we really made up the bulk of noise hey.

Feels like I’m disconnected. Trying to remember that my emotions and all that are always there even if my anxiety is blocking me, and that even if it feels impossible I can step back from the parts of my brain that are misfiring. And it works, I can do it. But then it fades away and my brain is desperate for this big β€œclick” moment where everything locks into place and it’s not getting that.

Getting the feeling todays gonna be a grab bag of compromises and β€œthat’ll have to do”.

[–] PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 10 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago) (2 children)

I know what you mean by the click moment. Anxiety is a thief that tries to steal our confidence. Some days all you feel like you're doing is chipping away at slivers of victory and completion. It sucks, but it's ok. A day of some small wins is still a day worth having.

There's a pizza place near me open until 1am. So if you order a pizza after midnight you can get the Tuesday special.

One of the benefits of ordering online. I don't know if they'd allow it if you called or went in store

[–] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 9 points 5 months ago (3 children)

Success! I helped this business getone of their Facebook pages under their business portfolio. They had been trying to do this for months and it seemed like they had done everything.

I thought I may not be able to do it because what could I try they haven't? But I did it.

This might lead to a bit more work back in the musical instrument wholesale industry. Working in a space you care about really makes a difference

Good news from the dentist - nothing obvious (and therefore expensive) showed up on the x-ray he took. Therefore it's either a post COVID toothache (which apparently is a thing) a sinus thing or something irritating the gum. He's given me antibiotics and we'll see how we go.

Today is the 40th anniversary of Princes album Purple Rain. I will show my appreciation by dancing about the house to it.

Things I'm grateful for today:

  • meal prepping last night because I have a headache today and am not in the mood for cooking

Cumulus clouds ?

Doggo

[–] underwatermagpies@aussie.zone 8 points 5 months ago (1 children)

What a gorgeous pup.

I'm grateful that I don't have to get up early on these cold mornings. And for warm socks. And the really delicious kiwifruit I had on my breakfast today, and the lovely afternoon sun that's coming through now.

Also this fluffy boy, light of my life:

Maybe we should make the gratitude comment a part of the daily thread!

I'll go next: I caught up with someone who brought their dog (I didn't realise they were going to), and we got to relax in a dog park for a bit

I forgot how good real coffee is! First time I've had a non-maccas coffee in about 2 weeks and MY GOD it was incredible. I audibly moaned, I WISH that was a joke.

Toothache still here - got an appointment this afternoon which unfortunately clashed with the shift this afternoon.
The guy I spoke to didn't sound too impressed. Tough. Especially since he didn't even bother to identify himself.

Almost been an overwhelming day at work today, missed my break times due to working through them but did take other times to rest.

Workload was off the charts today and I mentioned it to my work wife who didn't quite believe me until we had to do it for real and hands on today.

Today was a Told you so day.

Everytime I stay in a serviced hotel I'm reminded why even if I was rich I'd never hire a cleaner: I fucking clean everything beforehand anyway.

I know dedicated cleaners come with more of an expectation of cleaning than housekeeping, but still. Everything off the floor and in its place, floors vacuumed, and bed roughly made before they arrive. I will gladly take their help with doing dishes though, I absolutely hate dishes...

I can't stop thinking about KFC (korean fried chicken) so I'm gonna have a go at making it on Friday to have with drinks.

Had a dream that I was at this amazing party in the Tuscan countryside, big old estate with an amazing buffet and super interesting things to see and whatnot. Felt sad waking up to cold Melbourne.

Too much on at both jobs this week man, I wish I could cruise but no bueno. Tomorrow would've been ideal to wfh but I gotta go in for some training, so wasting 45 mins each way in traffic. I'm definitely leaving right on time tomorrow - left at 5:15 and the traffic was disgusting. Second job if I'm lucky I might be able to knock off early on Thursday in lieu of all the extra hours I've clocked up, but I'm going to need turbo caffienation.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 5 points 5 months ago (3 children)

What a beautiful clear starry night. Probably a cold one tho.
