Meta Platforms Inc plans to end access to news on Facebook and Instagram for all users in Canada once a parliament-approved legislation requiring internet giants to pay news publishers comes into effect, the company said on Thursday.

Why? Facebook is a cancer and the less of it Canadians consume the better for everyone (especially for those who were consuming it).

I'm not for Facebook. But if the law makes it impossible for all search indexers and sites to track news then you'll see wholestead most of these sites just leave. So not Facebook, but theoretically Kbin would be in violation if it copies and pastes the news when sites are posted. Facebook leaving is just a net positive, but I worry about the others. Especially with how it could be enforced.
