Good news (she said cautiously) after being very wobbly and actually wanting food but refusing everything, Sammi actually got back on the bed and had a nap, then after giving me some purrs and snuggles, she was much steadier when she got down and ate with appetite. Not the normal amount but she gave it a good go.
I'm much more hopeful now - earlier on I thought I was going to have to phone the vet tomorrow and have the 'is it time?' talk.
Crossing fingers for continued improvement!

What a lovely afternoon to do nothing at all

Been so nice with the sun out as well. Not that I was really outside for much of it.

Don't be tricked the illusion of Melbourne's "fools Spring". There will be a cold snap back at some point.

What a beautiful day. I bought another backpack. Got trapped in the car listening to modern music which felt like hours but infact was only 40 minutes.

[โ€“] Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 9 points 3 months ago (3 children)

I downloaded the Inspector Gadget cartoon thinking it'd be great to watch.

Except I didn't realise that if you had a crummy youth, nostalgia just brings back all the fear you used to feel.

No more nostalgic stuff from childhood for me. Never occurred to me before that this is something that might happen.

Gratefully, that time is long ago now.

[โ€“] SituationCake@aussie.zone 6 points 3 months ago (2 children)

Itโ€™s amazing how triggers can lurk for decades totally unknown to you that they even exist, until one day they happen. Stressful childhoods are a life long affliction. Iโ€™m envious of people who had pleasant childhoods. Itโ€™s a life cheat code.

It used to be that people had holidays in Australia and notably mostly within their own state as travel was too expensive.

Now holidays within Australia are too expensive so people go overseas.

Felt gross so I'm hydrating like a mofo today. I think maybe that was the issue.

No adventures for me this weekend either. Staying put and keeping it really low key. Trying not to get too much in my own head about things progressing. I'm scared but also excited. I've spent so much time on my own for way too long that I just hope I can come back from it without being a weirdo.. well, the weird kind of weirdo anyway I've always been a goofy weirdo.

Y'all enjoying the glorious day outside and meanwhile I spent most of it asleep. Dead to the world till 10am, dozed off several times from 1 to 4 pm. I think I just really needed to rest for my immune system to recover. I'm glad I did, as I don't feel as off as I did yesterday. Zero caffeine today as well which was probably needed.

My tomato plant that kept going all winter has finally truly carked it, I think (well that's what I said at the end of summer but then it found new life somehow). I harvested about 15 little cherry toms and they were DIVINE - bursting with sun-ripened sweetness. Chopped em up with sardines and had them with a fried egg on toast, that was a very satisfying brekkie. Think I'll have another crack at growing a tomato plant (or two?!) this coming season even though I don't always have great luck with them.

Tomorrow I have decided I will head into the main uni library and hunker down there. Free parking nearby so I can stay late if needed. No distractions unlike at home. I feel a lot less glum about it knowing I've had plenty of rest today.

Had a nice pub lunch and then went to the cinema to see Deadpool and Wolverine. What a glorious day, feels like very positive spring vibes.. makes up for the sinus issues I had during the night. My nose started running and just would not stop until early this morning.

Today under the glorious sun I'm going to move soil from point A to B.

If you think about it, pretty much most things we do (this is very deep) are getting things from A to B.

[โ€“] StudChud@aussie.zone 9 points 3 months ago (2 children)

I try getting myself from point A to point B, but end up at the crossing of ร† and รŸ

I have the map back! But not the tram icon.

Miss moo is having a hard time of it. But I managed to get her some of the good stuff and while sheโ€™s not up to wet food sheโ€™s licked some cracker crumbs and managed a few handfuls of treats.

Round two of the electric dumpling boogaloo: this time I just boiled them rather than whatever the fuck I did to them yesterday, and they were wayyyy better. 8/10, would buy again gladly

Drains blocked again, second time in 6 months this has happened. A call out fee on a Saturday for plumbers does not come cheap. And if itโ€™s tree roots again in the same spot as last time, Iโ€™ll have to get the drains re-lined to plug the holes that the roots are getting in. Which is $$$. I did say if this happened again Iโ€™d do the re-lining, now I have to. Crap start to the weekend.

The boys were very interested in the remote control car so I'll charge the spare batteries during their nap and we'll fund somewhere to drive it this afternoon

Day three of no computer. I'm boredddd. Waiting for my leave and last pay to be paid out and I'll go buy one of my own instead of relying on workplace provided one

[โ€“] Duenan@aussie.zone 6 points 3 months ago (7 children)

Nice and warm today. Havenโ€™t had to use the heater. So strange after itโ€™s been so cold for the last month.

Trying to de-stress today but still going through some dramas.

Iโ€™ve had my coffee for the day. I think itd be foolish to have another, even if it was an instant coffee.

Seems more idiots on the road today.

2 lane roundabout. I'm doing a right from the left lane (as the arrows indicated), almost collected a guy who did a left from the right lane.

Less than 5 minutes later, the driver of a parked car threw his door open, nearly hitting traffic.

Movie Review. Live and Let Die. 1970s Bond movie with Roger Moore.

a Bond Blaxploitation movie https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blaxploitation

I like how Black Americans* ( insert latest phrase ) are masters of their own lives, they make choices

But some of the racist and bigoted depictions of people made me gasp.

Just had to remind myself that this is pulp fiction/men's sex adventure genre, it's not high art.

The motor boat chase was really excellent and Bond was a good detective, he solved the case and also kinda saved the girl.

I don't care what Paul McCartney said, the song is lame ...lol. Maybe his voice is too sweet.

I watched Alien Romulus last night and I was impressed. I went into the movie thinking it couldn't possibly be good and all the good Alien movies are behind us.

It may not advance the lore of the Alien universe but it has all the elements of an Alien movie and is a satisfying watch for a fan.
