I'm doing a favour for someone that involves me spending the night in the Yarra Valley tonight. I have a gorgeous fire going, and I'm kicking back with some yummy cheese. And I'm being genuinely helpful. Love it.

Had to clip Mickey's claws a bit - he kept getting them stuck and then not being able to release it and yowling in pain. So I had my partner cuddle him with his oodie, and I used some small curved scissors and just very slightly clipped the very tips of his claws, just to remove the curve.

He did so well, no struggling or freaking out. He wasn't happy, but he wasn't afraid. He such a great cat!

I'll have to grab him a new scratchy thing and keep an eye on his claws.

Truly the chillest cat I've had, even when he's ratchet.

Ikea sent my stuff in a big box. With a cut out door and window and roof peep hole it will make an excellent cat play house for Bill and Ted. 😸😸

Feeling a bit snack-ey but wasnt impressed with any of the pantry offerings. Thought about cooking a quick cake or something but no packet mixes left. Then I remembered: I'm an adult and a semi-competent baker, I can just make something from scratch. Oat and choc chip muffins now in the overn.

A bit of light home defense jiu-jitsu wasn't on my bingo card. Some persistent drunk dude convinced it was his house. Tried to barge in past me when I opened the gate he'd been rattling. Interested to see how the hernia surgery feels tomorrow, been two months now.

Went and picked up my medical cannabis from the post office today. Very odd, showing my ID, it all being legitimate instead of meeting someone in the corner of the pub. Haven't had any in about 20 years. It is a trial to see if it helps with my chronic pain from all my climbing injuries. Also, the manual for the vaporiser gives detailed instructions of how to pack it.. In 6 different languages ...

So… yesterday while getting some good ole IT support, I tell them I have no write access is because the folder is outside of the directory (that everyone thinks it is in). Emphatically told (x 3) nope, that should not affect my permissions. Then enjoyed a mansplain back to me about where the folder was located (I know, I detailed an email to a senior 2 months agoβ€”who had no idea what I was talking about) and walked me through their cmd force update. It wasn’t particularly patronising, but it was like I wasn’t even heard.

I mean I probably couldn’t IT help desk to save my life, but I can’t say it doesn’t hurt when I’ve done a little fun time hobbying with CLI.

But hey, small wins. At least it was fixed this time. Not like I have been waiting for two months or anything.

Work gave me a bag of lollies for R U Ok day and it's mostly those hard lollies that shred your tongue to pieces.

So 'if you are ok, you won't be' is what they're saying.

Rock Candy? I love and hate them. Delicious pure sugar, but made from crystallised razor blades 😭

Something something pleasure and pain.

Pavlov's Cats. I just got a home delivery, when the door buzzer rang Bill and Ted started licking their lips. mmm, Home delivery is usually food and cat food. Sorry guys, it was just boring Ikea stuff.

I have a catch up with some (nice) family this weekend but am otherwise free. I am seriously considering just being a big oodie couch gremlin for the day tomorrow. The world has been very noisy of late.

Update:

Home..bathed. oodie on. Ginger tea in hand. See ya on Sunday world.

Goodnight everyone ❀️

I have a parcel which needs a signature (and won't let me change that) coming between 12:10-2:10pm

I have a dentist appointment from 1:30-2:30pm (I'll be out 1-3pm)

I reckon Mr postman Pat is gonna turn up about 10 minutes after I leave

And my post office is very strict on only allowing pickup after 4 for some reason. Even if the message that it's ready for pickup gets sent sooner, and I can literally see my parcel sitting there, they will not allow me to pick it up before 4

πŸ™ƒ

Edit: W E I R D. 5 minutes after posting this I got a notification from the camera somebody coming up the driveway. The usual chatty postman wasn't at my door - a new lady I've never seen before was. She left both of them, including the signature one and by the time I opened the door was already on their electric bike thingy and halfway down my driveway. I hope chatty postman didn't get sacked for being too slow, he was lovely

Dentist done for now. But I have to find somewhere that will take all of my wisdom teeth out at once, and preferably so full general anaesthetic. They suggested the dental hospital because they'll do it for either free or cheap, but it's a very long waitlist, and I won't get in to see anyone until I'm a full adult with full adult responsibilities. I'd rather do it now when there's people around to help me, and I can just not speak for a week with no issues

They suggested a low cost but private clinic in the east somewhere, but she said she would have to call to see what anaesthetic they can do. Apparently they also only accept referrals for certain procedures

Cost isn't too big of an issue, since it's not on my dime for the next 6 months. Part of the reason I want it sorted ASAP

Okay Kmart has just got these really cool iridescent skull candles in, and it is taking every ounce of self-control to leave them on the shelf. I do NOT need to spend this money. πŸ˜‚

Back to Melbs today. So glad to have that swim last night. It just hits differently when there's no one there which is a bit risky. Which brings us to a rave choon.

It dawns on you.. You are potentially staring at, what could be.. Finality 1 million and one ways to die.

[–] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)
