Cocktails, the libationary art!

1703 readers
2 users here now

A place for conversation about cocktails, ingredients, home mixology, the bar industry or liquor industry, glassware - this is not an exhaustive list. If you think it's in some way related to cocktails it's probably fine.

If you post something you didn't create give credit whenever possible.

Pictures and recipes are encouraged when posting a drink as a standalone post. Example of an ideal drink post:

We love garnishes.

Remember the code of conduct, keep it nice. In terms of cocktails- specific etiquette that might be different from other communities:

Mentioning your blog, insta, website, book or bar is allowed, yes. For now at least, we do allow self-promotion. If it gets out of hand this might change.

A good post with a drink you don't like is still a good post! Try not to conflate the drink and the post or poster. If someone has a relevant title, gorgeous photo and clearly formatted recipe of what you consider a truly terrible drink, a comment is more appropriate than a downvote.

On that topic: Polite critique/reviews of drinks (or posts, images, etc.) is allowed here. Encouraged , even. It's a good tool for improving your drinks and content. Really, just be nice.

Real drinkers have one bottle on top of a dirty fridge. You guys are all posers.

that's an alcholic. This is a cocktails community

Still nursing that green chartreuse, I see! Here’s mine; relegated to the basement but plenty spacious:

What do you make with that giant bottle of Southern Comfort? Anything that doesn’t include coke/sprite/any other pop or soda?

Whiskey with pineapple juice is so good. Pretty much anywhere from pineapple with a splash of whiskey to whiskey with a splash of pineapple.

Interesting, thanks! I bought a small bottle just to try it and am not a fan generally, but that sounds like a good combination to try

I like it as a shot topped with lime juice. Otherwise it's not something I use frequently.

A little lacking, but it serves me well:

I can’t imagine having surplus alcohol in my house.

Because of the angle, at first glance I thought those bottles to the left were defying gravity and sitting on the side of your cabinet.

Good old Evan Williams Clear. Excellent choice!

[–] RBWells@lemmy.world 1 points 4 weeks ago

Ha! Need a reminder to buy this. Our staples are:

Evan Williams Bottled-in-Bond - this goes the fastest because husband likes it on ice. But is cheap so a good staple.

Tequila Ocho claro, Gonzalez Reposado

ABK6 Cognac

Everything else just get whenever - that handful of stuff we buy when it runs out. The tequila usually not till both are gone though.

I've been meaning to do a post and share this, but I'll just pop it in here. Wife and I converted an old piano into a cocktail bar

We couldn't fit all of the alcohol in the piano, so the rest is in a trunk next to it
