Good news! Just got a phone call from work, the client found the missing $$$ (and from the sound of it it was $$$) so that's a relief to say the least. Change in the attitude of the carer lead was... a thing. But a cordial conversation was had and she's taken me off that client, so all well there.
I'd put in an application to join a union this morning and I'll keep on with it, as knowing aged care odds are that Something Will Happen.
But now I can do dinner tonight and really enjoy it, not just try and use it as a distraction!

[–] Eagle@aussie.zone 10 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Working in the community can be great, it can also be shit. Glad the dollars were found, but it does make you feel like garbage to have your professional integrity questioned. Union protection is a good idea.

[–] oztrin@aussie.zone 7 points 2 months ago

Exactly to all. I forget who said "I'm utterly and abjectly pissed off" but it summed up my state of mind!

[–] StudChud@aussie.zone 7 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Just join your union anyway, it's always a good thing and they need the support too, to advocate for you. Forget cmfuckup, and focus on your own union and the good things they can do for you. :)

I'm so glad this has worked out, and that they know you had nothing to do with it! Enjoy your day and all the beautiful things in your life, you deserve the relief and peace!

Fantastic news.

How does $$$ go missing anyway and I'm guessing they tried to blame you for it going missing?

I hope they issue an apology to you as it sounded like you weren't going through a nice time if you're also considering joining a union for protection.

I think you should treat yourself to something delicious tonight.

  • Old person hides cash away
  • they forget where they left it and search other places
  • they decide it was the carer who stole it
  • they find it later and call back to say it was found

Old people do be forgetting things lol

I had an accident trimming my beard last night, the length attachment fell off while using and took a huge chunk of it out. Didn't have any other option but to trim it all off. I kept the mo and some of the "soul patch" (had to look up what that's called, strange name). I haven't been hairless on my face like this for years, it's an adjustment. Feeling wind on my cheeks this morning was weird and kinda nice. Maybe this was divine intervention to change it up.

[–] bull@aussie.zone 6 points 2 months ago

I've been there. That exact scenario. My condolences πŸ’€

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 5 points 2 months ago (3 children)

My husband's been growing beards lately and he can't get the trimming right near the top lip. Doesn't matter how many you tube videos he's watched he somehow makes it look weird so he shaves it all off and the growing process starts again.

I don't care if he has a beard or not. I just don't want to see food dangling off the mo.

A medical appointment gave me the chance to be taken back to the op shop because there was a Led Zeppelin shirt I didn’t grab. You snooze you lose, probably snapped up 30 seconds after I left by a reseller.

But I did get some Buffy dvds and some art books. I went a little ham because things are getting scrubbed from the internet and I’m rediscovering the importance of physical media.

Life is a little bit easier now the demanding meds schedule is over, instead of stressing Melbcat out all the time we can focus on cuddling and chilling together.

All hands meeting. Executive verbally wanks himself about the company.

None of this matters to my job.

I have work to do. Kindly fuck off.

[–] Eagle@aussie.zone 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Look at you embracing employment again! In to the swing of it all already.

Hey Centrelink, if my appointment is booked for 2:30pm, that means it's at 2:30pm and you shouldn't call twice at 9:23 and 9:36 and get pissy that I'm not available. "Be sure to be ready at the time it's scheduled for." THAT TIME ISN'T FOR FIVE HOURS GO AWAY.

Also Astro Bot is an amazing game. Strong recommend.

[–] PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 8 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I always hated that whole "one rule for me and another for thee" aspect to dealing with C'link.

[–] Aradina@lemmy.ml 5 points 2 months ago

It's total horseshit.

And it was for a participation appointment that's literally just someone reading a participation plan I'm already aware of and asking if I want to change anything. It's something I could easily do in the app and save an operator for someone trying to call.

I bought a book for the first time in ages. Has beautiful pictures in it.

Also, there's Gibson lol

Does anyone know what instance of Lemmy this is? Trying to use this app called jerboa instead of the browser.

Ugh, I really wanted to take PT and the Skybus to the airport and save $30 on an uber but... in this weather, I don't trust PT to get me to the city on time, and fuck schlepping it in the wet. I got paid today, I'm taking the uber. AND treating myself to a schnacko at the airport if I get peckish. I can take the Skybus on the way back.

Off we go! No panic and anxiety. There are some things I appreciate having a job that pays money for

I absolute despise catching Ubers, but sometimes it's my only choice for a work thing.

Why the fuck do they drive with that whole "go fast, sudden stop, go fast, sudden stop".

Literally makes me car sick.

/rant

[–] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I have never caught an Uber.

I remember catching an Uber early morning in Paris. 130km/h speed limit to the airport, which additionally was treated as a mere suggestion. I was temporarily religious.

Wooohooo weekend! Early dinner with a couple friends tonight then nothing on and I will veg out to my heart's content. Big week. Finally fully signed off and soon my job proper. Now just getting better and quicker and doing more as the weeks pile up. I got this!

[–] Duenan@aussie.zone 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Last day of school for the term.

I could have sworn traffic was lighter today as I was driving to work today.

Hopefully it'll be the same on the way home.

Also I've been granted some luck and reprieve and I'm going shopping for burger materials this afternoon after work. Yay!!

I currently have an annoying bit of string stuck in my teeth, and I can't remove it because it's the end of my disolving stitches and is tied into my gums. I do not like this situation.

You guys know how potatoes taking things to the post office that's only open from 9-5 is annoying and inconvenient?

Be glad you don't live in Jabuk...

(That's 8am to 9am)

At least it's 5 days a week I guess

Edit: well, I meant posties, but I think potatoes is better πŸ˜‚

Mr Woof has decided to try and steal an onion, I have no idea why. The onions have now been moved to higher ground for safety. Maybe Miss Meow put him up to it?
