JD Vance suffered yet another embarrassing set back on the campaign trail, after being denied entry to a restaurant where he was supposed to speak – and being forced to address supporters in the parking lot instead.

According to reports, after showing up to Primanti Bros in North Versailles, Pennsylvania, a restaurant worker told the press that cameras were not allowed and that they did not want a “campaign event.”

The restaurant was reportedly full of customers waiting to greet Vance, who canceled their food orders after learning he wasn’t welcome.

How are they not calling to warn the restaurants?

[–] suburban_hillbilly@lemmy.ml 76 points 1 month ago

They are the most entitled pricks walking.

How are they picking restaurants where they're not absolutely certain they'll be welcomed?

I didn't propose to my (now) wife until I already knew what the answer would be. These chucklefucks are out here not even doing the bare minimum due diligence. Just showing up and hoping for the best.

The restaurant is getting review-bombed by pissy Republicans who are mad a business didn't want to be associated with rapists and misogynists.

Yeah. The original Primanti Brothers in the city is a tiny hole-in-the-wall diner-like place. The other ones, like the one Vance went to, are a lot different and generally low-key. Kind of like Applebee's with way different food. Plus, there are a good amount of people in the Pittsburgh area that would just stop eating/drinking there if they'd have allowed this to happen.

The review bombing is bullshit because contrary to popular belief, everything you read on the internet is not true.

Sounds like free advertising to me! For the low price of a couple of cancelled orders, you've just generated the most amazing set of review-reply opportunities imaginable

aint nothing going to give them business like this article. If I lived in the area I would be looking to go for a meal as soon as I could.

First thing I ever learned about lawering, and IANAL, is, "Never ask a question you don't already know the answer to."

Seems the campaign isn't as competent as I was as a child. In the 70s.

Well obviously the restaurants should all just feel extremely gifted that such a prestigious person was gracing their establishment

/s but that's probably their thought pattern

[–] Passerby6497@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Because they don't want to be told to fuck off before they get there.

[–] RagingRobot@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

That would be less embarrassing

[–] Passerby6497@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago

Yeah, but they don't know how to feel embarrassed. Calling ahead makes it obvious they're not wanted, which is a hell of a hit to their pride. Doing shit this way hurts their pride less because they can make up whatever excuses they want to justify why they get a cold reception, being told not to come is so much worse because it's clear that they are unwanted and unwelcome.

According to the restaurant owner, they were not notified. But apparently there were customers already there meaning to see Vance. So i guess the campaign told fans to come, but didn't bother telling the restaurant a bunch of armed secret service and media were going to descend? If nothing else at least the courtesy to help the restaurant be prepared for extra customers?

[–] vanontom@lemmy.world 38 points 1 month ago

I think they know there's a 60-70% chance they are not welcome at any given place (if only for cameras and disruption, but also for deranged asshole followers). So the strategy is don't ask, just show up, and threaten if there's a problem. What a surprise.

Four Seasons Garden Center has entered the chat...

Washington is full of GOP operatives who have worked on political campaigns across the country. None of those people want to work with Trump because he doesn't pay.

[–] diskmaster23@lemmy.one 41 points 1 month ago

This is just another long line of deliberate ignoring small businesses by JD Vance. This guy doesn't understand consent. What makes you think that Trump is going to care about your small business when his VP cannot call ahead and schedule campaign events with businesses?

[–] Etterra@lemmy.world 25 points 1 month ago

I'm sorry sir, but I know about the court order that you're required to remain no less than 500 feet away from any upholstery.

[–] spicylemon@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Shit, I can only hope he comes to our restaurant.
