Nope. You aren't getting my point and I don't feel like explaining it any further.

My point is that a lot of these things have flooded the market since the early 80s, which would make the tail end of Generation X the first generation that's been in constant contact with these things their entire lives.

Plastic Sugar Teflon Roundup Lead Pesticides Fertilizers

Just a few of the hazardous substances we regularly come into contact with on a semi-daily basis. The cause of the problem is capitalism.

The fact that this "Robby Starbuck" shitbag has any type of power over anything is fucking disgusting.

No matter what he meant, he sounds like he's trying to paint the people with legitimate gripes about the way he handles the company as the harrassers when he is a huge driver of the problem.

It's like Republicans complaining about the quality of current public schooling and blaming 'woke' policies when they've been the ones cutting school funding for decades, and they know it. It's feigned concern.

Yeah. Inattentive ADHD caught late in life here. Thanks for the book recommendation. I'm definitely gonna check it out.

[–] watson387@sopuli.xyz 1 points 5 hours ago

It is for sure. I'm glad you had that experience.

To be honest, just talk therapy worked the best for me.

CBT tells you to be aware of your surroundings and to question all of your negative thoughts to frame them in a more positive way. The problem I had with it is that all negative thoughts are not invalid, and tricking yourself into thinking they are is basically gaslighting yourself. Also, when I was in a rough spot and having a hard time figuring out what to do, questioning all of my thoughts just led to more distrust in myself, which had a negative effect on my mental health, not positive.

I don't think CBT is necessarily bad when used in the right situations, but it is definitely not a cure-all like the current buzz about it tries to sell it as and it can absolutely have a negative impact.

This isn't even amusing or interesting, just pathetic and sad.

I was frustrated earlier trying to figure out what to cook for dinner for a few picky eaters, so I typed:

chicken
no strawberry
no gravy
no olives
rice
noodles
spices
onion
garlic

into Goblin Tools. The recipe it came back with is delicious. I cooked it and got no complaints from anyone, which impressed me so I figured I'd share it. I added 1/2 teaspoon of garam masala to the spice mixture but other than that I cooked it exactly how it says to in the recipe.

The recipe (exactly as returned):

Dish Name: Spiced Chicken and Rice Pilaf

Serving Size: 4

Ingredients:

  • 500 g (1 lb) chicken, cut into pieces
  • 250 g (1 1/4 cups) rice
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 750 ml (3 cups) chicken broth or water
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp oil

Instructions: Heat the oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute. Add the chicken pieces and cook until browned on all sides. Stir in the cumin, paprika, turmeric, salt, and pepper. Add the rice and stir to coat. Pour in the chicken broth or water and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 20 minutes, until the rice is cooked and has absorbed the liquid. Fluff with a fork before serving. Enjoy your Spiced Chicken and Rice Pilaf!

I'm glad she's finally saying it out loud.

Is the plain white bread of meats.

Sorry for the crappy image. This is just to satisfy my own curiosity. I'm talking about the 'Stereo-mono' symbol. Does this mean it was recorded mono and converted to stereo? The album was released in 1974.

Found this salamander on my back patio in the pouring rain.

This has been an issue for a long time. I’ve been trying to avoid Chromium based browsers, but Firefox seems to be unable to print a lot of web pages without cutting off the content between pages. This is Firefox specific, as it doesn’t happen with Chromium browsers. It’s really a pain in the ass when I need to print something I have to open another browser and print it from there. I see tons of complaints about this online going back for years. I just spent the past two hours trying (unsuccessfully) to print a recipe correctly. I eventually gave up, opened Edge and printed from there. The current state of web browsers is dogshit. It’s either give up all of your privacy or use broken stuff. Neither is good.
